Children's Biennale & Yayoi Kusama @ National Gallery

Brought the kids to the event at the National Gallery today. What a fantastic event it was for the kids! Really arty-farty, diverse and creative, the various pit stops were interactive and interesting. The place was quite crowded because the school holidays have begun again.

Here's the map and the various stations to complete!

This is the Hello, Future-me letter box.

This was the Homogenizing And Transforming World installation which was about navigating through an immersive labyrinth of glowing orbs that change colour and produce sounds when touched.

This was the Firewalk: A Bridge Of Embers installation, which was a man-made bridge made to look like an infinite abyss. So cool yet scary. The kids really loved it!

This is the famous Yayoi Kusama's The Obliteration Room. Originally pure white, participants are given a sheet of coloured dot stickers to stick anywhere in the room. The kids also enjoyed this one.

This is the Sonnet In Blue installation, a simple maze made of plastic with poems written on them. Meh.

The tree eye!

Was good fun and the kids absolutely tired themselves out.

Visit while you can!

Planking

Here I am, bringing planking back.

This is the bridge at Palawan Beach, Sentosa.

Got a siren warning from the beach lifeguards as a result.

Oops.

Kids, don't try this please.

Happy Birthday Dearest Wifey!

These days, at our age, a birthday celebration is a 10km jog/walk from the ARC, to Labrador Park, to HBF, to Vivo, in to Sentosa, to RWS, to Palawan Beach, ending at the Southernmost point of continental Asia, and back.

We did it all in about two hours.

Not bad for a morning's exercise.

Followed by a sumptuous bowl of prawn mee at East Coast Prawn Mee with ngor hiang.

Dinner was Sakuraya, and then the kids helped choose a purple sweat towel and a candy patterned neck pillow as birthday presents for mummy.

A day well spent indeed!

This Beautiful View Of Siglap By Night

I'm really going to miss this view.

A lot.

Then again, I will exchange this for an even better view, albeit not from the comforts of my bed.

Things That Excite Me These Days II

I gave up!

Instead, it was the wifey who took over!

World's hardest jigsaw puzzle is also the most boring ever!

NS50 Army Half Marathon 2017

This morning ran the team run at AHM2017. Not a hard run considering it was only 5km.

Still harbouring dreams to complete one full marathon before I turn 40.

Esplanade Bridge is full and this was the latest flag off. The 10km and 21km were obviously much earlier.

Robinson Road was closed so that runners get to enjoy the scenic city views.

When the whole city is on lockdown to accommodate the defenders of this little red dot. Beautiful.

Even for 5km team run, we had free tees and medals!

Tribute To Benjamin Ching VI

Thought I should archive a tribute of him here. We had a simple toast to him last month.

It's been five years already.

Things That Excite Me These Days

Just $2 at Daiso!

Wonder how long I will take to complete it?

Fatherhood Reflections XLV - Drawings & Friends

The boy's school was having a two day holiday due to the upcoming PSLE oral exams. So yesterday I asked the boy, instead of spending the whole day at student care, would he like to spend the day with me if I could take a day off from work?

At first he was quite willing, then after a lot, and I mean a lot, of deliberation, he said he would rare spend the day in student care. Because he wanted to be with his friends. Sad!

I guess all primary school kids are like that. But still.

Tonight he made this drawing which I found amazing. He wasn't copying it from any pictures, and merely sketched it from memory. Such a work of art!

Fatherhood Reflections XLIV - Brushing Teeth

Sometimes it's the little things.

The kids haven't really been brushing their teeth, so I went through with them why it was important and why it shouldn't be a shoddy job even when actively brushing.

The girl is more diligent. She has observed how I brush my teeth and she knows how hard I tend to scrub them. She is also more enthusiastic with initiating it every night. Last night I even heard her brushing her tongue just so that she would slightly vomit gag (not sure if that is a good thing!) like I always do.

The boy is slightly lazier but he still brushes with more enthusiasm now. He also brushes harder and likes to follow the way I use my left hand to gather water to rinse my mouth. Hopefully he'll keep this up.

Such simple things make me happy to observe.
