COVID-19 Has Taken Over Our Lives

Haven't blogged for a while.

I'm not too sure why, but I definitely have been spending more time at home.

On the home front, all is well. More time at home = more time with kids and family. Becoming more of a homebody, preferring to stay at home and do a bit of house chores here and there. Or work till late hours just because we all can now.

On the work front, things are super busy. Good busy. More people staying at home + volatile markets means more people want opening new accounts and more people trading. Company is on a 50-50 split, one week Work From Home, one week work in the office. If things get worse then we might end up in a 100% WFH situation.

On the investment front, this is where things get super ugly. The markets are in total turmoil. Daily 1-2% up or down is nothing, several days of limit ups and downs (5%). My personal portfolio is terrible. I've lost about 40% of my whole portfolio from this sudden drop. I see the situation getting worse and have cut my losses when I see the chance to. Money can be earned back, I try not to be too hard on myself.

COVID-19 has changed the way we live our lives.

Singapore is currently on partial lockdown already with many businesses closed, we've barred entry to foreigners, everyone has to social distance themselves or stay at home to keep safe.

This is probably the worst global crisis we will ever face in our lives, and this is just the beginning.

I wonder how this will end?

MIL Masterchef Power

Another weekend, another power dinner.

Think also because it is my princess's birthday.

Just look at her cooking?

In fact it all tastes even better than it looks!

Fatherhood Reflections LXVII - Learning To Lose

About two weekends ago, it was my son's regular bi-weekly Sunday friendly match within his football school.

The boy's class was up against a team a year older.

Already I knew things were not gonna be good when the coach was already mentally prepping my son and his teammates that this was gonna be a tough match.

10mins into the match, the opponents were already 0-3 up.

The boy was starting to get emotional and I could clearly see he was taking this match harder and harder with every goal.

By halftime, the score was already 0-6 or something and my son was literally crying on the pitch.

Basically crying while playing.

The referee could see it.

His teammates could see it.

The parents watching the match could see it.

He actually played the best in his team that day.

He played far more aggressively than normal and the referee even had to warn him.

They lost 0-11 by fulltime.

The opponent's coach had to instruct his team to give up possession by the fourth pass. How embarrassing.

I felt really helpless.

All I could do was to shout at him that it was ok.

In hindsight, it was a good learning experience for him.

I hope he learns to deal with the disappointment of loss better after this.

Sigh.

Favourite Mobile Games Now

Since the last time I blogged about this, I've decided to do an update of the mobile/online games that I currently play to reflect the trends of the online gaming industry on me.

So here are the games I play now.

Clash Of Clans
Yup, still on this for six years now. How amazing is that?
Our Saxo clan is still very much alive, although we are struggling to recruit new players to the clan. Newly upgraded to TH13, this account still has minimal defences so as to have as low a war match-up rating as I can. I still maintain two other accounts, both also at TH13 which are very well upgraded.

Pokemon GO
Here's another oldie but goodie. I currently maintain four accounts, two are at level 40 fully maxed, one is at level 35, and one is at level 34 which was my wife's account but she doesn't play it anymore. Look at how powerful my mons are! Still quite enjoyable as there are still new Pokemons being released.

Fantasy Premier League (FPL)

This office tradition is still going strong. Based on the English Premier League, that so many of us are fans of, we have a common pool in office going and it is rather competitive. This year with 8 games to go I am languishing in 10th place, sadly. Does not look likely that I can come into top 3.

Brawlstars
The latest craze is also from the COC makers, SuperCell. This is another addictive games of PvP that is taking over the world. Currently operating three accounts, with this one at 6,700+ trophies being the leader. What is interesting is that my son is really into this game, my daughter knows how to play it, and most importantly, my wife is really addicted to it too. She's almost as high level as this account!

Smiggle Eyes Cover

Really wanted to buy this while choosing a birthday present for the daughter.

COVID-19 And The Markets

The markets are in freefall with the COVID-19 coronavirus s[reading throughout the world.

Things are really quite bad.

Hopefully they improve soon.

Crash Landing To You

When your wife is trying to watch some stupid Korean drama in the car and the sun is shining brightly.

The Girl's Chinese Compo

The girl recently got her Chinese composition posted on the enrichment class' bulletin board.

Proud moment for her and for me as well.

These days every Sunday I am waiting at 4.30pm for them to finish class and they are usually out later than that.

MIL Masterchef As Always

My MIL is probably one of the best cooks of local food in Singapore.

Seriously.

Stupid Bed

I hate this bed that my wife got for the workroom.

It just pisses me off!
