Singapore U16 4 Vasco Da Gama U16 0

Wow. What an amazing scoreline.

This is the Lion City Cup and our U16 cubs have done something truly outstanding by qualifying for the finals against Ajax.

The started out by beating Ajax 2-1 and drawing with Porto 0-0. Now they have proved their worth by advancing into the finals in emphatic fashion. A thrashing of Vasco.

Adam Swandi and Rashe Rahman. Remember those names. There play better than some of those in the national squad.

What a crop of talented youngster we have!

Read the match report here.

We can only hope that someday, Singapore might indeed produce the talent to make it to the world cup finals.

Wasted IPPT Attempt

Retook my IPPT during reservist hoping to better my previous outing of just the Incentive award.

I couldn't :(

Last time out I missed the Silver award by a mere 1sec of my 2.4km timing.

This time round I clocked 12.01min (Silver standard), but only managed 4 pull-ups instead of the 6 necessary to get a Silver award.

Sigh.

Sad.

Humble Beginnings Of Paige Chua

I'm not a fan.

She's the Kristen Stewart of Singapore minus the top-dollar paycheck. I absolutely loathe her one single deep-in-thought expression for just about every emotion she is trying to present in just about every local drama she's been involved in.

And yet, while reading through my old blogposts, I realized that she's been featured before during humble beginnings!

Amazing right?!

Back then I remember it was the 2006 Singapore Motorshow and the company had a booth there and we happened to be working there. We decided to take pictures of the car models and rank them!

I remember Edmund and I were smitten by her girl-next-door looks. And when we went over to ask for a photo, she politely obliged.

Such a nice girl.

Now if only she'd smile more on tv like in that photo!

Miami Heat Wins NBA Title

LeBron James (LBJ) finally won his first NBA title as the Miami Heat beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 121-106, winning the series 4-1.

I guess it's quite well deserved with such a strong lineup in Miami with Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade a part of the winning team.

LBJ will probably win Finals MVP as well.

Think the shortened season definitely helped them.

Let's see if they can repeat as champions next season.

Am looking forward to see where Jeremy Lin ends up. Hopefully he goes somewhere that gives him ample playing time.

A Nation's March

NDP 2012 song.

Not the best or most catchy of local tunes out there, but I feel proud of this effort nonetheless.
We are Singapore!!!

Lions XII 9 Sabah 0

I'll admit that I hardly watch local football.

But last night what a treat I got catching the LionsXII beat Sabah 9-0 at the Jalan Besar stadium!

One of the finest performances I've seen of them so far.

An amazing result!

Read the report here!

Go Lions go!!!

Jakarta 2012

Have been traveling quite abit, and this is what I notice.

The Indonesians are getting richer whether you want to accept it or not. The middle-class is growing and getting more wealthy. This is not just confined to the business-centric Indonesian Chinese. You can see that there is a rising segment of liberal Muslims who are getting alot wealthier as well. This bodes well for the stability of the country given it's 90% dominance by Muslims in that country.

I could spend time digging out positive stats and data to prove this but I don't have to. All I need to use is my simple observation on the simple everyday goings-on in it's capital, Jakarta.

Everyone's using an iPad these days, the blackberry is obviously a given, the streets are alot safer to walk on, the taxi queues are getting alot longer, and everything is getting more expensive. Sure there are still the poor and slums abound, but they are getting less obvious to the frequent traveller,

What the Indonesians need to fix is their reputation for corruption, pollution and transport infrastruture. Already we are seeing alot of new regulations which are driving out the bucketshops, and there is finally an MRT line being built to ease the traffic congestion.

Assuming that they can keep doing what they're doing, Indonesia, using Jakarta as a proxy, will one day be a force to be reckoned with,

Perhaps it is finally time to start investing in Indonesia once more.

CHF Alert

This research on CHF on tradingfloor.com is pretty good.

Time to short EURCHF big big!

Importantly you really know the risk is there when many of the FX brokers start to raise their margins for all CHF pairs!

Be safe, keep your powder dry.

Euro 2012

The England team visited an orphanage in Ukraine today.

The Big Reset

Once again another excellent post on ZeroHedge.

I know it's abit too much doom and gloom, but who's to say it's not going to unfold as badly or maybe even worse?

Raoul Pal of GLG Partners has always been a bear. But this one looks very real, albeit damning.

If you're too lazy to read the slides (it's not alot), here are some key takeaways:
- there is way too much debt in this world
- the developed world will default
- the current banking system will fail
- all that is left is the Dollar and Gold

Be safe.
