ECP Cyclist Park

The ECP Cyclist Park is now officially open!

We went to take a look at it over the weekend and it was quite impressive!

There was the middle portion which housed a 7-11, PS Cafe and a few other shops and restaurants.

Then on the left was a beginner's cycling course, just lots of open ample space to ride about for beginners.

On the right was the advanced cycling course which came with humps, bumps, narrow paths to ride on.

Really cool.

Most importantly now when I go to ECP for my jogs, I needn't go past all the construction anymore.

I've got to go there with my bike soon.

Old Notes

Part of reunions is to see the treasure trove of historic artifacts and items that we used or did in school come back to our memories via old photographs and notes.

In P4 we had form teacher names Ms Png.

Pity we cannot locate her anymore, but we all had good memories of her.

She once single-handedly wrote a play for our class and this was the script.

I also remember her neat handwriting was the primary reason my own handwriting is also so neat.

Pretty brilliant by standards of those times!

Blangah Rise Primary School Class of 1991 Reunion 2019

My old primary school classmates.

We had a class reunion last week.

It was really nice to see those old faces and just simply to keep in touch.

Some old pictures were brought out.

Here are some of them where I'm actually in them.

Pretty hard to recognize I know.

But still ever so nostalgic.

We talked at length about so many things.

It was a really good catch up.

Sometimes it is good to source our own roots just to help us remember.

In fact they made up part of my inspirational Guest of Honour speech at this year's Prize Giving Day.

I need to find it and post it on here.

Here's us today.

Sony PSP

Been quite into buying a gaming console recently for the home.

I thought it would've been a nice to have where the whole family could play games together.

Wifey is quite against it though.

She recently dug out her Nintendo DS which is still in great working condition.

I used to own a Sony PSP as well, which she went to dig out.

It is not really working anymore although it clearly shows the date of highest use was in 2007.

That was probably the year I bought it.

What a blast fro the past.

Here's a picture of me trying to salvage something from it.

Fatherhood Reflections LXIV - Introduction To My Futsal Gang

I am feeling super proud.

My son actually joined me and my footballing mates for futsal for the first time ever.

So proud of my son.

He held his own at 9 years old.

Will only get better.

Art Jamming

Spent last evening Art Jamming thanks to a client event invite by a good friend from Prudential.

I brought the kids to experience painting on canvas, although it wasn't the first time we tried it.

It was good fun and now I have three paintings that I can put on my home wall!

Here're the kids' pictures!

Blangah Rise Primary School Heritage Trail

I was back at my alma mater to be Guest of Honour (GOH) for their annual prize giving day.

It was all about going on stage to shake some 200 hands and congratulating them on a job well done.

I also wrote a pretty good speech that received a lot of praise from staff and parents. Yay!

The interesting thing this year is that the school's small little Heritage Trail is now completed.

This is a corridor of good memories of all things BRPS.

Good to see my good friend featured on it as well!

MIL Home-cooked Dinner

She is the true masterchef.

Not to mention that she likes to cook what I like to eat :P

Gotta appreciate it while it lasts.

Crazy Cupboard Build

This is funny.

We just bought this drawer cupboard for the house from IKEA.

It took me FOUR DAMN HOURS to build!

Mainly due to the silencers (for the drawers).

Hilarious.

First Two Hour Run This Year

It is two weeks to the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon.

And I've just completed my first two hour run.

Down ECP to Gardens By The Bay East, and back.

Tiring, but hopefully that gives me enough practice for the big one.

Still find it a little crazy that I signed up.

Oh well.

LEGO Harry Potter

The whole family (except me) is so into the Harry Potter books lately.

I took it up a notch by buying a big set of Harry Potter LEGO for my son recently.

Boy was he happy.

Behind That Smile

Deep down I know it doesn't feel right,

Especially when it keeps me up at night.

Perhaps it is everything happening right now,

Regressing surely I don't know how.

Everything appears to quietly crumble,

Safe to say this is more than a simple life tumble.

Sometimes I wish I could take one long nap,

It could all happen in an instant snap.

Optimistic I might always sound,

Need a breather from my stormy ground.

Annual Health Check Up

So aside from the Decathlon health check which was super simple, I had prior to this attended a far more comprehensive one, which comprised of everything from blood tests, ultrasound, ECG, height, weight, cancer markers etc.

The results were in last week and I had an OK clean bill of health.

Only one item was alarmingly bad.

I had really high, high cholesterol.

This was bad enough.

I was asked to go on medication.

Thankfully the medication is normal and common amongst people with high cholesterol.

I also have to eat a healthier diet and exercise as much as I currently do, or even more.

Sad.

Decathlon Health Check

Went to Decathlon @ Kallang and somehow got dragged to do a quick and simply health check.

It was good to check it once in a while.

Basically I am fat.

Need to run more.

Pokemon Tretta Update

Pokemon Tretta is really catching on since I last posted on it.

It is getting more popular, and I have more and more friends playing it.

And with that, there are more machines available to play in Singapore too.

Brought the kids down to Liang Court the other day and we found 5 Pokemon Tretta machines there!

This compares with JEWEL's Pokemon Center which has only 4 machines and all are so crowded all the time.

We had a fun time and I ended up spending about $30 there.

Now I'm busy searching for a suitable Tretta album to store them all.

Great fun!

Running Preparations

I have a marathon to run at the end of the month.

Hopefully I can set a better time in the Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore than my first attempt back in 2018.

That said I haven't been running too long durations, most of it just about an hour's worth.

So not really sure how I'll cope.

Anyway, I enjoy the views as I run.

Roxy Square Katong Laksa Slurp

Still here.

Still loving it.

Still the standard fare with the whole family in tow.

The most standard set we always eat now is:

2X Laksa (S)
3X Wanton Noodles (S)
2X Otah
1X QOO Drink
1X 100 Plus Drink

Then we share.

There are times when the wanton noodle queue gets too long then we shake things up a wee bit.

Still as delicious!

Sakuraya Fish Market Love

Still loving it.

Still as good.

Still the same stuff every time me and the wifey eat there.

Delicious sashimi!
