Happy Lunches

This whole week is WFH for me.

I managed to have lunch with my parents and siblings every single day of the week.

So proud.

Having lunch with them makes me very happy.

We eat in Joo Chiat.

We eat in Bedok South.

We eat in Marine Terrace.

I really treasure these moments we are together as a happy family.

I always walk back home feeling happy and carefree.

There is much to be grateful for.

Work From Home (WFH)

WFH is the latest buzzword what with the coronavirus spreading around the world now.

It's called COVID-19.

So now all companies have to activate their Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) to ensure that business goes on as per normal.

Our BCP involves the company splitting 50-50 into Team A and Team B.

As much as possible everyone from Team A should never cross paths with everyone from Team B.

Each week, one team works in the office while the other team works from home.

Hence the WFH buzzword.

Working from home is so boring.

I find myself glued to my home desk PC more and working more, but also find it feeling very empty, monotonous and lonely. No colleagues to talk to, no one to have a casual chat, hardly any space to walk around.

And if anything it takes more effort to get out of the house to have lunch, go for an exercise, etc.

Hope this whole virus thing goes away soon.

My Father's Dream

Had lunch with my parents yesterday.

I always enjoy our lunches these days.

Really much to treasure.

Yesterday my dad related a dream he just had that had me in it.

He said it was traumatic.

It has me in it.

Here's what he said.

He was driving his car and drove past Mountbatten Road and then he saw me standing by the road side alone. He stopped his car and asked me what I was doing and whether I wanted a lift. I said I was waiting for a friend and didn't know what to do. I looked around 10-12yrs old. A kid basically. Anyway then he proceeds to ask me if I want to get into his car and I agree. He is driving along the road when some car comes on-rushing, he swerves, doesn't get hit but suddenly we are dangling by a cliff. So the car is dangling along a cliff and he is able to get out on his side, to have a look at the damage. When he does so, the car begins to tip and falls over the cliff. I am in the falling car and staring at him. He said I wasn't screaming, just looking at him in despair.

My dad said it was very haunting.

I can imagine.

I feel like I've had a similar dreams of this nature before.

Not sure what it means, but nice to have him relate to me the whole dream.

I told him there is nothing to worry about.

Hope he'll be ok and get over the trauma of this dream.

God bless :)

Sin Heng Bak Kut Teh

The wifey was drunk on Friday night and what better way to get over a hangover with all the soupiness of her favourite BKT?

This has been her favourite food for the last one year at least.

One Beautiful Morning

Captured this really beautiful shot on Saturday morning when the boy was having his football training.

Life is all about enjoying these things!

Micro Machines

What a blast from the past.

My mum and brother kept my old Micro Machines toys from more than 30 years ago.

These vehicles are still in very good condition!

And now it is my kids' turn to play them.

WFH Maggie Mee Dinner

Because of COVID-19, our company followed government guidelines and activated our Business Continuity Plan (BCP).

The main change is that 50% of the workforce in Singapore has to work from home while the other 50% works in the office.

So last week was spent working from home (WFH).

Its the IN buzzword for 2020.

Working from home has its downside and its parks, depending on how you look at things.

I found myself working more because there was no one to disturb me, but feeling lonelier.

Here were my observations

And of course it made one lazier to go out for meals.

Here's my maggie mee dinner. Two packs of curry mee + three eggs.

Coronavirus In Singapore

So with the global spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus (or Wuhan virus as many still know it as), Singapore turned DORSCON Orange last Friday.

And the whole Singapore panicked.

Everyone headed straight to the supermarkets and stocked up very aggressively on toilet paper, canned foods, instant noodles, rice etc.

We even found ourselves caught up in the whole craziness, queuing at the Marine Parade NTUC for more than an hour with stocked up food.

Here's a picture of my son helping to carry some of our load.

It got even worse over the next few days as social media sent much of the population into delirium.

There were tons of pictures of people buying and hoarding crazy amounts of stock.

Thankfully the government came out to clarify that there was enough for everyone.

NTUC themselves also restocked very quickly and made sure there was enough in each supermarket.

And today, it was as if nothing has happened. The supermarkets are well stocked, and no one is queuing for crazy supplies anymore.

Yet COVID-19 is still spreading.

Hopefully we get over it soon.

New Fans

So we finally got rid of the old fans in the living room.

They had been there since we moved in, and they were the old-school drawstring type of fans. Looked very big and clunky, not very powerful, and the drawstrings for me were an eye-sore.

We found a new brand other than KDK and decided to give is a try. Its called Bestar and they're locally made.

Made our living rooms look MUCH bigger as they were so powerful yet minimalist!

So far so good!

Check it out!

GRIT YEET

I learnt the word YEET from my son, who learnt it in from his friends.

Anyway I've been going to the gym quite regularly and the GRIT class which is one of the most xiong is the one I've been going for with Eugene.

Pretty intense, but all round good feel when we're done.

Like want to die lidat.

Malaysia 2020 - Genting Highlands

So we travelled across the border and headed up north to Genting Highlands over the Chinese New Year period together with the in-laws. It was a 4D3N trip.

I haven't been up to Genting Highlands since 2007 and so was quite excited to see what it offered currently.

It was a good trip in the family sense.

It was a bad trip in the gambling luck sense.

Crossing the border via Tuas Second Link was fast and seamless.

Coming back was ok, we were stuck in the jam for only about 45mins. The next day when the FIL came back they were stuck there for almost 5hrs!

Genting Highlands hasn't changed much to be honest.

Everything is still there, a bit of renovation and refurbishment to make things look less old, but otherwise still the same generally.

The outdoor theme park was closed.

Generally a pleasant trip for all.
