2013 Malaysia Elections II

So that watershed moment never came.

BN still won 133 seats vs 89 for PR.

A tough, dirty and smelly fight indeed. Marred by soluble indelible ink (paradox?), phantom voters, mysterious extra ballot boxes, violence and even the now famous blackout magic.

But I guess life goes on for the Malaysians.

It really makes you appreciate the integrity of elections in Singapore.

Ooh and the Malaysian stock market and Ringgit soared this morning! Continuity, as I mentioned before, is the current preference.

2013 Malaysia Elections

Touted as the most tightly contested elections yet, tomorrow could be a new dawn in the history of Malaysia.

I know all my cousins living there want change and have grown tired of riddling crime, corruption, inefficiency and lack of transparency that the current administration is well known for. And you can bet the Chinese and Indian votes will almost surely go to the opposition after years of feeling marginalized and to some extent, even oppressed.

As of today I read in the Jakarta Post that the opposition has a slight lead and I'm not surprised. Even the Malay voters, especially the younger generation, frown upon the archaic Bumiputra policies.

Even Singapore-bashing, or trying to win the Malay votes by comparing Malaysian Malays with Singaporean Malays don't cut it any longer because our Singaporean counterparts have excelled so much further with our meritocratic policies. So much so even Singaporean Malays these days like to make clear that they are different. Economically, psychologically and financially, they are doing better, with nothing more obvious than the huge appetite for foreign property across the border in recent years.

And yet, I want the BN to win.

That's because a BN win will be a win for Singapore from an economic standpoint. Here are the reasons:

1) Najib's Pro-Singapore Stance
Let's admit it. From Pedra Branca, to our Tanjong Pagar Malayan Railway land issue, to water policies and normal rhetoric. No other Malaysian leader has been friendlier and more accommodating with solving bilateral issues than this guy. Sure we threw truckloads of money at them, but there were some things that all the money in the world previously couldn't buy back, and now we have (the land issue).

2) Iskandar And M+S
Another of Jib-kor's brilliant ideas. I've never really been for pouring investment money into our northern neighbours, but the whole Iskandar project has seriously broken glass ceilings in terms of co-orporation our two countries were capable of. It feels almost like we bought a huge swath of land to compliment a Singaporean Malaysia, much like Bintan Resorts in Bintan, Indonesia. M+S was the idea proposed in exchange for returning our land to us. 49% owned by Temasek and 51% owned by Khazanah, they will control investment of development on those parcels of land returned. A brilliant compromise where we nipped the winning edge.

3) Stability
Unrest if Anwar wins. Nuff said.

So I guess we will find out he result tomorrow. Let's see what happens.

Stay tuned.

True Fitness Session V This Season

Wanted to go for Spin class today to train for OCBC Cycling this Sunday. The class was full so ended up cycling on the stationary bike.

Half an hour later I managed to clock 15km. This means I will complete this Sunday's 42km in approximately 1.5hrs?

Excited!

RVP Wonderstrike

Still can't get enough of his goal on Monday.

Watch it here.

Absolutely amazing. This is definitely goal of the season for me and is up there with THAT Wayne Rooney wonderstrike in 2010.

In other news, Dortmund thrashes Real Madrid 4-1! Wow!

Looks like its gonna be an all-German final!

Bayern Munich 4 Barcelona 0

Sometimes it is true that you need to experience a terrible loss before you can find the necessary strength to go to the next level.

Last season, Bayern came in 2nd in their league, FA Cup equivalent, AND the UCL. The UCL Finals loss to Chelsea was especially painful I'm sure, given that they were playing in their our home ground, AND were the dominant force who were expected to wipe Chelsea out.

And look what they've achieved this season. Having won the league with 6 games to spare, in the finals of the DFB Pokal (FA Cup equivalent), and now a 4-0 first leg lead in the semi-finals of the UCL.

Lesser teams could disappear into oblivion. But just like Manchester United, they have that "We will never die" spirit.

In 1999 we won the treble. Having scored 2 goals in the extra time to win the UCL over Bayern, that could have crushed them to bits too. But instead they came back strong to win the UCL 2 years later.

This type of winning mentality is why I love such teams and why I love Manchester United.

In Your Face Haters!

65 years back when 8 United players died in the Munich crash people said that our dreams have been shattered and that we’ll never rise again.

19 years back some Scousers dismissed our 8th premier league title, they told us to come back when we have 18.

9 years back when Arsenal went undefeated, They said United would never be the same again.

7 years back when Chelsea had won back to back titles, They said 19 was just a magic number.

4 years back when Ronaldo left, they said it’d be the beginning of the end.

1 year back when Manchester City won the title on the last day on goal difference, they said Manchester will never be red again

But here we stand with now a record “20 -T W E N T Y” titles, better than anyone else

IN YOUR FACE HATERS!!!

WE’RE NOT ARROGANT>>>>WE’RE JUST BETTER

#20

It's been a long wait.

Really.

An 11-month delay.

Just when we thought we had it last year, it was taken away when we crumbled last season. It was so bad, I didn't even bother a post season post to pencil in my horrible thoughts.

But this season, we really made it ours.

With 4 games to spare somemore. A full 16pt lead. Now our only aim is to better the EPL record of 95pts set by Chelsea in 04/05.

Last night's 3-0 win against Aston Villa was not only a great result, it was a great way to win our 20th EPL title too! RVP scored a hat-trick to top the top scorers charts.

What more can a fan ask for?

Glory Glory Man United.

Totally elated.

Suarez The Rat

This is simply hilarious!

Last night during Liverpool and Chelsea's game, Suarez bit Ivanovic in the 73rd minute.

The guy just cant keep away from controversy. In the game alone, he gave away a penalty, bit an opponent, and then scored a 97th min equalizer.

Om nom nom!
