Bank Run

Read this on Zerohedge.

It's quite funny actually. Mainly because I don't think Singaporeans are worried about a bank run in Singapore, but more worried about running away from the bank's telemarketeers calling them several times a day.

That being said. Bank runs in Europe will not be good for the global macro.

Maybe it's time to long gold once more.

Discontinued Gym Membership

Decided not to continue my True Fitness gym membership for another year.

Can hardly find the time to go anymore.

Last year's membership cost my $490 after subsidy and I only went like 7 times.

That makes each trip to the gym worth a princely $68.57!

Guess its a good idea not to renew.

More runs in the neighbourhood and more soccer games coming up I hope!

Chris Lum's BIG highlights

Chris Lum: Set For NFL Draft

Chris Lum played college football at Lehigh University.

He started some games during his sophomore year, but took over officially as the starter for his junior and senior seasons.

During his senior season, he had a 68% pass completion, and accumulated 4090 yards, 32 touchdowns, and only 15 interceptions and led Lehigh to a 10-2 record.

He earned First-Team All-League honors during his junior and senior seasons.

He was the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year this past year.

He is entering the 2012 NFL Draft, and his draft stock has been rising in recent months.

Fact.

I wonder how the ESPN commentators pronounce Lum. Lume? Or Lam?

Hmmm...

Such Drama

Ok, we lost the league.

We beat Sunderland 0-1, but City beat QPR 3-2.

But what drama. City took the lead, then QPR equalized, then Joey Barton got sent off, then QPR scored again to take the lead, then in extra time, Man City scored 2 goals.

Sigh.

What can I say.

Somehow it doesn't hurt that bad. We have not played that well all season, with a transitional squad, decimated by injuries, and still we matched them point for point.

Sigh.

Gotta look forward to next season.

Half Hour To The Final Match Of 11/12

With a half hour to go to the final match of this EPL season, I am painfully expecting City to win the league.

But thanks to the many times we have celebrated triumph in adversity as Manchester United fans, there is that tinge of hope that anything is possible.

If we end up falling short as expected, I'll just look forward to next season and the exciting new players we will hopefully bring in. But if, and only if, we win our 20th title, this could just be the most memorable Manchester United triumph yet.

Let's hope City does something stupid and we win our game away to Sunderland!

That Glimmer

This coming Sunday at 10pm, Manchester United will take on Sunderland away and Manchester City will take on QPR at home.

With City leading the league by a mere +8 GD, tied on points with United, they will win the league as long as they win their match. If they do not win, then United will win the league if they do one better over Sunderland.

We can drop our heads in despair at how we had an 8pt lead with 6 games remaining and capitulated to the present moment where we are tied on points and 8 goals behind on goal difference, but after a fair bit of wallowing, we have to try and look for positives.

While it's hard to imagine City losing to QPR, considering that they haven't lost at the Etihad this season, QPR is fighting for at least 1pt to avoid relegation and hence should at least fight harder than their league position suggests. That being said, United will need to win at Sunderland to capitalise on any opportunity too. No mean feat.

As a fan I'm already very happy to have been around during the SAF era where we have constantly been challenging for trophies and long may this continue. We also have an exciting post-season to look forward to as we finally look to strengthen the squad back to at least the 07-08 squad-type of glory.

In the meantime, I will just hope for the best and expect the worst, which would be that City and United both win our games, hence losing by the narrowest of margins. In all probability, that's gonna hurt the most.

Still we will move on. We will never die.

BELIEVE!!!

Samsung Vs Apple

The war between Samsung and Apple has been ongoing for a very long time.

But as much as I got the feeling that Samsung seemed to have better technology, Apple just had the brand and style that drew consumers to its products in ways we cannot explain. Hence we always assumed Apple had a more commanding presence in the retail sphere.

Then since last week or so, while taking the train, my casual train-carriage-sample-group test drew in a surprisingly refreshing result. In the train carriage I was on each time, I could count more Samsung (mainly the Galaxy Note/Tab) users than Apple (only the iPhone what else?) users. Note that this very accurate yet simple sample test actually predicted the demise of the Palm, the Nokia phone and the Blackberry (or at least properly predicted their fall from grace).

This only means one thing: AAPL is going down. Down to Chinatown.

Manchester City 1 Manchester United 0

Xianz.

After I had posted my 10-pointer reactions, the iPad decided to crash on me.

Anyway, I'm kinda crushed that we relinquished the initiative to Man City. Hopefully, with 2 games to go they will drop points while we pick up maximum.

Believe!
