Marquee Singapore

So the best night club in Singapore is not Zouk or Capitol anymore.

It is Marquee.

It became famous when it first opened, touting three stories of party space with even its own ferris wheel and three-storey slide, and then got notorious when a couple was filmed getting all lewd and sexed up in one of the ferris wheel cubes! And the video obviously went viral.

So for this year's Saxo New Year Party, we decided to have our party there.

Oh boy at what a party it was.

We first had a simple, exquisite dinner at a Spanish restaurant called Binomio. Even threw in beer pong for all interested participants to boot.

Then came the main highlight where we all shuttled to Marquee at Marina Bay Sands.

The club is simply massive and exclusive (really not cheap), something quite unexpected even going by the size of its entrance. Even at three stories it occupied SO MUCH SPACE. The dancefloor and the DJ backdrop was the size I have never seen anything of in Singapore. usually only in certain clubs in Indonesia or Thailand have I seen anything similar.

Very impressive.

We had our own private area at the second level, coupled with our own pretty waitress and burly private guard, and partied there till late. Drinks were ample, with champagne trains going on several rounds.

The first thing I explored was the infamous ferris wheel, called The Big Q, it was a 20min queue to wait, followed by a 20min ultra slow ride. It was a bit of a dampener in the end because everything was so slow that I kinda sobered up after that.

Then I went over to the Slide, which was a lot more fun albeit a fast experience. Really cool playing it while feeling high.

Then it was back to our private area where we partied and danced the night away.

We were crazy.

But we are only young once. YOLO!!!

MARQUEE LOVES SAXO!!!

Jay Chou Carnival World Tour 2020

Attended my very first Jay Chou concert last Saturday with the wifey.

We got the best tickets at around $372, and still we were just one of thousands in that category.

It was my first mandarin star concert so I had no expectations.

Just beer me up and I'd be ready for anything.

Ended up really enjoying myself. Because I was quite high.

Wifey also looked like she had a splendid time.

The mandarin concerts are quite different from the english ones where they run like karaoke sessions, with lyrics on the screens for fans to sing in full chorus.

Still it was great fun.

New Beds

The kids are growing older and bigger.

And with their size increments come the need for new furniture to ensure they live and sleep comfortably at home.

Now their beds are even more comfortable than mine.

Haha.

We will strive to afford whatever we can, while we can, for our children. Always.

Friendly Investment Advice For 2020

After I posted this, look at the amount of negative news that came out.

- Floods in Jakarta
- Fires in Australia
- Assassination of an Iranian top army general by US

Let's see what 2020 brings on the macro front.

Hope I can huat big big!

Pokemon Unown

We were in Jewel's Pokemon Center and I saw this section of Unowns.

Unown is one of the rarest Pokemons in the game.

In Pokemon GO, they are possibly the rarest to find.

To add to their rarity, Unown is not one single Pokemon, they come in all 26 letters of the alphabet and the exclamation mark too!

So to see the full set of Unowns on sale in plushie version was quite a treat for me haha.

A Jewel New Year

Spent New Year's Day in Jewel @ Changi.

They had this very beautiful Christmas tree.

Surprisingly it wasn't as crowded as we thought.

We ate at Hoshino Coffee for lunch and then a considerable amount of time walking around collecting all the latest Frozen II themed perks.

One nice thing that happened was that our meal spend at lunch qualified one child to enter the Frozen II Enchanted Forest theme kids adventure at T3. We needed to spend another $50 to get one more ticket so both kids could go. Then at the counter, someone came up to me and passed me their voucher because they didn't want to go. Wow.

So nice.

New Year Flares

Every new year, the ships docking in Singapore waters fire flares into the night sky and blare their horns to ring in the new year.

It is a beautiful sight from where I live.

New Year's Eve Steamboat

Just want to highlight that this was a rather special New Year's Eve for us.

The wifey decided we should all have steamboat.

And we all spent considerable time preparing for it together.

The best part was that the meal turned out excellent!

Slurp!

Kway Chap 2020

It been a really long time since I've eaten kway chap from my favourite stall at 3838 Eating Place.

A large part of it due to my suspicion that all the innards activates my gout.

So after so long, I decided to give it a go.

Delicious as always.

LEGO Harry Potter

The kids really wanted Lego Harry Potter sets this Christmas.

I ended up buying three sets for them .

They were:
The Whomping Willow
The Clock Tower
The Great Hall

Here's a look at the final product, with all sets joined with one another.

I love that they really love playing with it!

Fatherhood Reflections LXVI - Fixing A Lightbulb

How many people does it take to fix a lightbulb at home?

Two.

Me and the wifey.

And even then we couldn't do it properly because we bought the wrong sized LED bulb which couldn't fit into the hole in the false ceiling.

Anyway we ended up with such a solution, haha.

Luckily this is in the laundry area so no one will see it.

Fabulous Feng Shui 2020

Can't help but feel optimistic about the year ahead for me after watch this feng shui video by Master Joey Yap.

I'm now very pumped up to do something really significant with my lucky year like he suggested!

Really hope for a great year ahead.

HUAT AH!!!

Resolutions 2020

And so a new year has begun. In fact, a new decade has begun.

We are in the 20s now.

Like I've said in several previous posts already, 2019 has not been that fantastic a year, and yet looking at the highlights I've achieved even when my chips are down, I think it was rather balanced in the end. Definitely have seen many better years out there.

Here's my 2019 in review.

So when I thought about my 2020 resolutions, there were some from 2019 that I wanted to keep to ensure I stay motivated with a collective aim of a better life by the end of the year, but at the same time add a few new resolutions to keep myself reminded of the changes I am experiencing in my life as I enter my 41st year in the world.

I will try to adhere to my management-learned technique of setting myself SMART goals. Specific, Measurable, Ambitious, Realistic, Time-factored goals.

Here they are in no specific order of priority.

1) Exercise Three Times A Week On Average
I have actually had this as a resolution in 2017, 2018 and 2019. And each year, I have failed to achieve this. Will 2020 be different? Well, I have joined a gym once more, I have a weekday running group in the office, I have serious health problems, I have a built in regular weekend routine. Twice is almost a guarantee already, so now I just have to make it a regular thing to sweat for a third time every week.

2) Earn >SGD10K On My Saxo Investment Account
This is another repeated resolution. I achieved this in 2018, but failed miserably in 2019. Hopefully I find some sort of systematic regularity to making more profitable trades on my Saxo account. I have so far gone one year green, one year red, one year green and now one year red again. Hopefully by end of this year, I will be VERY green.

3) Achieve Passive Income Of At Least $700/mth
This one is an extension of something I've been gaining a lot of momentum on. My key to financial independence. And 2019 I managed to achieve this target and then some. It showed me what was possible if I really put my mind to doing something with discipline. So now I want to stretch myself even further and hopefully by 2021 I will be earning passive income of at least $1,000/mth?

4) Go Somewhere Interesting That I've Never Been Before
I've always loved to travel. And this should be fairly easy to achieve if no hiccups come along this year. Ang Kor Wat in Cambodia likely. Hokkaido likely. Let's see.

5) Look After My Mental Health
I think if I really wanted to put things in the clearest terms, this was what's really pulled my 2019 down. I've gone through some really tough mindfucks throughout last year and spent too much time thinking. And there were a lot of serious negative thoughts in play last year as well that made me go into depression without anyone realizing it. It took a lot to get out of there and still I can't say I am in the clear. But of course having a positive and optimistic mindset has always helped me in my life. I have always seen the glass half full and been grateful for the life I have lived. I shall aim to be stronger mentally, and also be happier inside. Surround myself with the people who love me and genuinely want to be with me.

And with that once more, hopefully I can earn a 5/5 come the year end!

HUAT AH!!!
