JB & RTS

Been going into JB a lot this year.

Something’s drawn me there that I will be going in a little more out of necessity.

What excites me is firstly the latest RTS development, and secondly the SEZ between SG and MY.

I see a lot of potential in these developments that the north of SG will be a lot more integrated with JB.

Hopefully it really gets better and becomes a realistic opening up of more businesses, lower prices and better interconnectivity for us all.

To cheaper purchases!

To retirement in JB!

Hot & Humid

 Really win liao lor.

This heat is ridiculous.

The hot and humid weather in Singapore is expected to persist through the rest of April 2026, with high daily maximum temperatures often reaching or exceeding 34°C to 35°C. Whilethundery showers are expected in the afternoons, they may not provide long-term relief.
Key Outlook for the Coming Weeks:
  • Rest of April 2026: Warm, humid conditions will continue, particularly during the inter-monsoon period. Daily temperatures are expected to range between 33°C and 34°C, with highs reaching 35°C on several days.
  • May 2026: April and May are traditionally the warmest months of the year in Singapore. Temperatures are expected to remain above average for this period.
  • Late May/Early June 2026: A gradual transition to Southwest Monsoon conditions is expected, which may bring different weather patterns.
  • July 2026 Onwards: There is a possibility of hotter and drier conditions from July 2026 due to a potential return of El NiƱo, which could bring lower rainfall and higher temperatures.

Still As Hot

This year’s April must be one of the hottest + humidest in a very long time.

It’s soooo hot especially at night.

And it’s sooooo humid!

A Walk Down Memory Lane

Today was a walk down memory lane.

I went with my dad to the location of his old home. We called it Old House.

It was off Beatty Road. One of the first of its kind government housing before HDB even came to form.

I have faint memories there as my parents brought me there on a weekly basis when my grandmother was still alive and my paternal side of the family would gather there to drink beers, gamble, play mahjong and make merry.

Today we walked Beatty Road, then Sturdee Road, drove through Jalan Besar.

It was a great time reminiscing the past, both for dad and I.

He was narrating all the old stories of his childhood, while walking different streets. Where different things happened in his life as he was growing up.

We saw the beautiful Peranakan terrace houses on Petain Road.

Then we drove to Berseh Food Centre at Jalan Berseh for dinner. We had herbal turtle soup paired with mutton tendon soup, washed down with sugarcane juice.

It was delicious.

Today was a good day.

Singapore Fintech Festival 2025

This year Saxo chose not to have a booth at SFF.

Instead we spent that budget elsewhere which IMHO was definitely more prudent and well spent.

Instead we bought delegate passes and a few of us went done to continue networking and all.

The event was still attracting a lot of people so that is good I suppose.

The first night’s networking event really blew me away tbh. The whole Boat Quay was booked out and everyone from the industry was there.

This robot really impressed me.

Boat Quay 2025

Just thought I’d leave a footprint here of Boat Quay in 2025.

I mean I’ve been working in this area for over 20 years now.

I frequent this part of Raffles Place extremely often, especially during lunch when I’m looking for some place to eat and chill.

Maybe not so much the river facing side but that is the most famous face of Boat Quay.

Singlish

 The voice of Singapore.

Also at the Art Science Museum.

Singapore 2050

Was at the Art Science Museum at MBS.

Thought this artists impression of what Singapore will be like in 2050 was cool.

But may not be that realistic.

SG60 Cake

This year is a special birthday year for Singapore!

It is SG60!

As usual we’d go over to my parents’ home to watch the parade.

This year my mum went one further by buying a birthday cake for Singapore!

Happy 60th birthday Singapore!

Viktor Gyokeres

Not an Arsenal fan but was actually quite proud that he was unveiled in Singapore’s Festival of Football game between Arsenal and Newcastle.

And I was there to catch Arsenal win 3-2!

Sinkhole

There was a sinkhole that opened up a few weeks ago at Amber area. It swallowed a car, thank goodness the driver was rescued in time!

So damn scary!

Look at that! OMG!

Happy 60th Birthday Singapore!

So happy and proud we’ve made it this far!

We should be so grateful and proud as a nation.

Spent the evening watching the parade at my parents’ place with my kids.

They might be teens but that doesn’t stop us from enjoying a good NDP get together.

Mum even bought a cake to sing for Singapore! šŸ‡øšŸ‡¬

Here’s to celebrating SG100 in 40 years time!

A Rail Corridor Birthday Treat

Gave myself a birthday treat my tormenting my body for a day. Jogged/walked the full 23km of the Rail Corridor, from Kranji to Tanjong Pagar. Will drop at least a toenail or two because the rain drenched me and my poor feet. 8/10 would recommend.

Here’s my quick review:

Northern Corridor - most underdeveloped, literally mud paths that destroy shoes when there’s rain, pools of mud traps. Poor signage as well.

Central Corridor - most touristy, all the instagrammable stuff are within this shortest 5km segment (truss bridge, old station etc), paths are very well developed.

Southern Corridor Part- most boring, just endless PCN literally along AYE all the way to Tanjong Pagar. At least the paths are well developed and lots of wild chickens.

Jooch Delights

This is definitely my goto place while it’s still around.

Duck rice and Tau kwa pau from Dunman Food Centre, in the heart of Joo Chiat.

And of course you get to see the beautiful and iconic row of old colonial era houses.

Tower Club Singapore Skyline

Had a corporate event at Tower Club recently.

Very nice views around Singapore.

Lady Gaga Singapore

Mother Mayhem live in Singapore was a dream come true.

I was lucky enough to watch her all alone in the front rows one night, and then an additional night in the suites.

So so awesome to see and hear her live in concert.

Her latest album is SO good.

Picnic In Sentosa

Went for a picnic in Sentosa recently.

This is our old trusty green Decathlon tent.

These are good times.

Heat

Wah the weather lately, has been ridiculously hot and humid.

I think the nights are choking up to 36°C!

This is causing me problems because I don’t have much chances to sleep in aircon :(

Singapore General Elections 2025 Results

 Hardly any change on paper.

Singapore General Elections 2025

So the PAP won by quite the landslide again. Nothing much has changed from the 2020 outcome.

1. Singaporeans are tired of rubbish opposition. Singaporeans look for quality candidates, this applies to PAP candidates too see point (7)

2. WP is establishing serious GRC strongholds (Aljunied and SK are not even close fights anymore).

3. Tampines and Andre Low getting NCMP = 12 quality opposition voices in parliament.

4. Punggol and East Coast WP teams good fight and if they stay on, will dig roots no matter any gerrymandering claims.

5. This new term we should look forward to see if WP can go from strength to strength to attract even more candidates to challenge in more parts of the island in 2030.

6. Also all eyes on new PAP candidates with more scrutiny than ever whether they are up to the mark

7. Most importantly, NCM vs Andre Low showed that incompetence vs quality new comer can really be a close fight!

8. All winning candidates this term will definitely be judged with even more scrutiny than ever in our history, in 5 years time

Majulah Singapore!
