The boy is heading to P1 next year, so preparation is quite essential IMHO.
Tuition is gonna be essential although these days they call it enrichment class.
In class, the rest of the kids are far ahead of the boy. Looks like they've been around much longer under such pressure. I think it's good for the both kids to see that there are kids smarter than them, more prepared than them, yet keeping the balance of ensuring they do not get demoralized by being surrounded by too smart a cohort (a la me back in secondary school).
The present school system demands good ability to work hard and smart under pressure so it is good that he starts on these lever cranks early, lest he gets too stressed later on in life.
In general all I demand of them is to try their best. That's why I do not berate them for being slower or getting a poorer result in class. That's because these things don't have to be bested all the time. As long as they develop the right attitudes towards lifelong learning, and the ability to handle most of the academics stresses thrust upon them, I think that is more than adequate.
Hoping for the brightest future for my kids.
