Home On A Friday

How rare is that?

Wifey is sleeping early because she needs to rest.

The long two weeks of consecutive work is taking its toll. Really looking forward to soccer tomorrow. Hope it doesn't rain. Next week will be an exercise week, with Body Combat on Monday and the JP Morgan run on Thursday. Should be fun.

Spent the last few weeks interviewing alot of candidates. Job market is certainly picking up.

Sigh.

Looking forward to Tokyo in 3 weeks!

Who wants to visit the Shanghai World Expo?

Days Of Days

This is my10th consecutive day of work, staying past 8pm for at least 5 of them. Really tired. Two more days to the weekend.

Can't wait.

So will Liverpool field a weaker team against Chelsea so that Man U will not win the league? Highly likely.

Can't wait for Tokyo tour end of next month.

Gosh I need a break.

Cloudy Ash

Went to the gym for the 2nd time in 2 weeks! That's quite a record. The Body Combat class was really tiring. Then I finally got a haircut at a small little barbershop. Think it looks pretty nice now :)

Bangkok business trip got canned at the eleventh hour :( Darn. Was hoping to go despite all the trouble there. Would've been fun to see the Red Shirts.

That giant ash cloud halting flights all over Europe sure is gonna add a cloudy stain to the markets. Was hoping the markets would drop further but they're more resilient than I thought.

Then the suing of Goldman Sachs made it even more certain that all hell would break loose. But no, still everything looks fine and dandy.

I wonder how long more before the big runroad?

Anyway I watched Manchester United beat City in the local derby on Saturday in the comforts of home. Email me if you'd like to know how I did it. Was so happy when Scholesy turned up at the last minute to score that sweet header. Glad we're still in the title race. Hopefully we'll win all our games and Chelsea will lose one or more of them.

Oh and last weekend we caught How To Train A Dragon with my siblings. Awesome show. You guys should go catch it!

Ris Low Begone!

Was at MediaCorp's AMK office recently to collect my Speedo watch for my winning letter to 8days(finally!).

Who would have thought that I would stumble on a filming crew right at the reception. They were filming a new English series called Silver Linings. Then I noticed the crew kept refering to this tall (and ugly) girl as Ris and then I realised who that was. Dammit, the more you hate them the more your paths will cross - Murphy's Law. And by golly was she irritating or what. For starters she cannot act for shite, more on that later. And she was speaking in her usual irritating I-cannot-speak-properly-but-people-love-me-right type of lynch-deserving voice. Buay tahan.

The bad acting was so bad, that I didn't even need to tell you it was bad. The scene seemed like a cameo scene for her and all she had to do was stop an old lady walking past the reception of the office. 9 takes. That's how long I was there for and still when I left they were still doing the same scene. After each take, the director kept faulting Ris (she can't act - which is why her stupdity is not an act, its real!)and telling her how to improve. Even the old lady actress looked forlorn that this show is gonna bomb with Ris in it haha.

I have a 99.9% confidence level that I will not be waiting for this series to air.

Ok enough ranting. The whole comedy (I dunno if that series is a comedy but it didn't look like it) really eased my 20min wait for a silly Speedo watch.

Victory At Bintan Lagoon

Was golfing at Bintan Lagoon last Saturday for the Saxo Texas Scramble. As you can read, we won the event! Hit our best score ever in the short history of the tournament with a 78 (+6) and with our aggregate handicap of -23, our nett score of 55 (-17) was tops! Next closest was a tie at 57 (-15). Won ourselves abit of cash. And this is the second time we've won this tournament. Whooooot!

Was also a very interesting experience because after the first 2 holes, it start to rain cats and dogs. I mean serious downpour flood-type monsoon rain and we were totally drenched! Then 7 holes later, the sun came out and dried our clothes. By the end of the 18 hole, we were only drenched in sweat on top and soaked through our underwears at the bottom. Haha. Was a very fun experience nonetheless. The win obviously made everything seem all fine and dandy :)

Below is us and the coveted nett-score trophy!

The Times Are Improvin'

Blogging for the first time on my new BB. I may not be able to log into FB but can blog mai hiam buay pai liao.

Just got out of office realizing that I was last to leave! Had to lock up the place :(  You know its a Monday when the office empties before its even dark.

Walked through the Far East Square row of pubs and instantly you get a good indication of how good times are. When even on a Monday evening there're so many people out drinking, then it surely means that things are picking up in the financial industry - normally the leading indicator of sentiment ahead. Heck one year ago the whole row was a ghost town on Monday evenings, only filling up on Fridays. Now its bustling no matter what day it is (ok, maybe except Sundays).

We even have a Dry Bulk Index to call our own. Its the small column of space between NTUC Building and One Raffles Quay where you can see the ships docked along the shores of Singapore. So the bad times were when up to 16 cargo ships and tankers could be counted within that column whereas right now we're looking at an average of only 8 or 9 of them parked there.

Better yet, changing jobs is the new black! Who isn't looking for greener pastures right now (me?)? Headhunters are doing great business once again and everyone is again complaining that they arn't paid enough.

Stock market's been up 6 days in a row. Property prices are setting new records. Even HDBs are shooting at 1mio. COEs prices are pricing everyone out of car ownership.

So you see? The good times are coming back. Of course, this is the financial industry. Meaning if you're not in it, you'd only see the effects between 3 to 6 months from now, depending on where you're at.

Elections must be coming.

Mission Hills & 九龙山 Pix Are Up!

Pictures are on FB together with the HK office pix!

Too lazy to post them twice hehe.

And I'm damn sad that Man U just lost to Chelsea 1-2. Haiz. We need Chelsea to drop points somewhere now. Nice of Macheda to score though.

Next weekend going to Bintan Lagoon.

Gotta drink less alcohol from here on man.
