If you don't know by now, the world's stock markets are in the middle of a correction phase. I'm doing OK, but I won't comment too much till its all over. You never know when the markets can turn around and bite you in the ass when you're not looking.
Considering that this is the last thing people in my line of work needs, I gotta say I'm pretty satisfied with the advisory work I've done thus far. At least no one's commit suicide yet, my regular aunties arn't complaining, and people arn't panicking yet haha. Its good to have such corrections once in a while to keep your feet rooted and your ethics firmly intact, that I gotta say.
My own investments have been holding up pretty well, maybe except for my punt into Gold and Silver, but even still I am bullish on commodities in the long term.
My personal opinion of the stock markets in the coming months? Its gonna be alot of sideways trading and we'll not see the high that STI hit anymore this year. There could be a slow bear creeping in, lower highs and lower lows kinda stuff. The World Cup will put a damper to anyone trying to do stock trading, and markets will be quiet through June/July what with WC06 and the European summer holidays.
Hopefully the contrarians are spot-on.
Watched The Da Vinci Code last night. Quite good. Now I've gotta read the book all over again. There's alot of details thats been missed out but I thought the show was good enough lah.
Watched Over The Hedge during the weekend. Now this one is a little tricky. All the funniest scenes are already in the trailer, its too darn predictable, and its too short(like all cartoons). Yet the cuteness of the characters kinda make up for all of that, period. If you do intend to watch it, just don't expect it to be very funny.

Defu Lane 10
Just back from Tsen Yeow's farewell gathering. He's going to Shanghai to work for quite awhile. All the best bro!
The gathering was great. Considering I haven't seen the guys for quite some time liaoz so it was great bonding with them again. We went to this open-air restaurant at Defu Lane 10 on Defu Ave 1(I really can't remember the name of the place but I swear I'm going back there again soon). There were 14 of us...lets see...
Tsen Yeow
Joe
Hongwei
Corrinne
John
Xiuwen
Steven
Weixiong
Jeremiah
Jackson
Anson
Ah Aow
Ben Tan
Yeah. 14 of us in all. Great fun. Great food. I took a couple of pictures with my handphone but am too lazy to upload the pix. We had this funny yam dish that looked like cookies but inside was filled with yam, scallop and egg-yolk. Weird. But delicious. The rest of the food was pretty commendable but the main stunner was the crab. I don't think I've eaten that much crab before(since I'm allergic). I dunno how to describe but it was just damn good lah. Must ask Jackson what's the name of the way they're cooked. One was chilli and another was butter crab I think, but definitely different from the ones I've eaten.
My goodness the food there was fantastic.
Considering that we booked the place at 7.30pm but only got seated around 8pm and we had to wait damn long for the food to come(like at 8.45pm), it was well worth the wait. I'm surprised I haven't heard of this place before but its location is seriously damn ulu papaya(lucky we had cars) but its at Defu Lane 10, once you're there you simply can't miss it(okay maybe you might if you're blind). It was teeming with families, damn crowded and damn hot. But it was worth it. Luckily we had so many people so alot of catching up to do which kinda distracted us from the long wait. We just sat around talking cock, singing song and if there had been a piano we'd have played it.
Was a good bonding session for everyone I think, over pretty good food so I think this was a really good gathering for us Hall 8 oldies.
Oh, and Tsen Yeow's flying wednesday if any of you wanna say goodbye to him...

Election 06
Considering that this was not my first time voting, the elections'06 sure has been interesting. Maybe because so many of my friends were voting this time(I think the last round most of the east side were walkovers). Maybe because I attended an opposition rally for the first time and listened to Sylvia Lim and Low Thia Khiang charm my pants off? Maybe because Joo Chiat's opposition this year was more credible than the last? Maybe it all just helped to take my mind off work.
At the end of the day all calm was restored, no change in seats. PAP 82 Opp 2. I actually stayed till 1am watching the live results show last night. I'm glad Hougang and PP remained with the opposition. I honestly thought Aljunied could've been won by WP, and I thought the suicide squad in AMK did spectacularly in the PM's own turf. I mean that's 1 in 3 people in AMK that voted the WP. All said, at least now we know there won't be pandemonium when markets open tomorrow morning. Probably gonna cheong past 2650 tomorrow early hours.
Haiz, gotta wait another 5 more years to go to another opposition rally. Haha.
Have finally booked a holiday with the dear. Been planning for an extended holiday trip of the year and at least its finally settled. Going to Phuket and Bangkok. The interesting part is that we're flying to Phuket by Tiger, Phuket to Bangkok by AirAsia, and back from Bangkok by Jetstar. Talk about trying all the budget carriers in one single trip. Considering that airfare is dirt cheap, I think its gonna be a pretty exciting trip. Will post a review of the three flights when we're back.
Will be diving in Phuket. Didn't realise it's ranked as one of the top 10 dive spots in the world. Probably around Koh Phi Phi and the east side of the island lah. Hopefully things won't be too expensive. Then gonna shop till I drop in Bangkok.
Sa-bai sa-bai...
Seems like its gonna be a slow month for me at work, what with the many public holidays, elections, school holidays. Rather looking forward to the huge break in June already.
OK, so much for an update, gonna go watch TV...
