USS 2021

So once again, within six months, we were back at Universal Studios Singapore (USS).

The current pandemic situation meant we couldn't travel, so that has been the bummer for a year and a half now.

We had booked for a staycation at the W Hotel (again!) but when the Phase 2HA situation came up, we decided to cancel. And while we could cancel the hotel booking, we couldn't cancel the Hydrodash and US tickets that we had bought earlier.

Luckily we could coincide all these activities on the same day.

So earlier that morning we had just challenged ourselves through the grueling Hydrodash.

It was time to relax and chill at a very much toned down, socially-distanced, USS.

A lot of restrictions where live performances were not allowed, queues had to observe social-distancing, many restaurants in the theme park were closed, 25% capacity within the theme park. Such extremes just to keep business humming. And then to top it all off, the two roller coasters, Human and Cylon, were closed for maintenance.

Sibeh xianz.

We were on priority passes somemore.

And it was drizzling.

In total 7 rides or performances were closed/cancelled, and with the priority pass, we could take repeat rides in place of those cancellations.

The reality turned out slightly better with our expectations managed downwards rather significantly already. And with the priority passes, we managed to skip the normal queues which were just as long as normal time operations because so many rides and entertainment pieces were closed or cancelled.

In fact, we kicked it off by riding The Mummy ride twice, back-to-back!

Some rides were malfunctioning too. We were stuck in the Transformers ride for a good 5mins inside the actual ride itself where the lights came on and the sound switched off. The Puss In Boots ride also came without sound, which made for a lousy experience.

Yet there were highlights.

We took the Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure ride twice, and that was really so, so fun. We kept guessing and predicting who would 'take it for the team' because some people will get wetter than others depending on the spin of the float we were on against the crashing splash towards the end of the ride.

We also enjoyed watching Megatron roast bystanders with really mean remarks. It was hilarious!

All in it was good fun, but I am looking forward to USS operating in its full glory once more hopefully sooner rather than later!

Hydrodash Again

Haha we just came in April and here we are once more.

Even for someone recovering from Achilles Tendinitis, this was awesome fun.

Even if it were raining (drizzling).

Another hour spent struggling through all the obstacles, with less people (even better!) due to social distancing measures.

We would then head to USS after this.

Achilles Tendinitis

 GREAT.

As if I don't have enough health issues in my life already.

This hits me all of a sudden one morning having woken up from my bed.

I feel this sharp pain running through the back of my heel, along the Achilles tendon area.

Read up online about it, and it fit this description perfectly.

It's called Achilles Tendinitis.

Had to give it the RICE treatment, but a few friends advised me to go on the METH treatment. Basically very similar except RICE uses icing the wound as the main reliever while METH uses heat packs as the main reliever.

I do feel both have its right situations to use them. RICE for immediately after injury, and METH for medium term nursing back to full recovery.

This likely came about because I always never did any warm-up nor cool-down exercises before my long runs. It is time to change this bad habit.

Thankfully this went away after about three-odd days.

Hopefully it doesn't come back to haunt me further.

He-man Master Of The Universe

What a blast from the past.

My favourite toys from when I was so young.

My mother used to buy them for me at $6.50, and look at them now, $19.90!

Crazy inflation in 30+ years!

Still looking so cool nonetheless.

I have the power!!!!!

Phase 2HA KFC Meal

 No dining in.

Only takeaways.

So I went with the girl to dabao KFC.

It was one of those celebratory evenings where we wanted to eat rubbish food.

Cheat day as some of you might call it.

This was the entrance of KFC Siglap outlet that greeted us.

Sad.

But dabaoed KFC is still so shiok.

Happy Beloved Birthday To My Mother

 It's my mother's birthday!

We didn't do much unfortunately, given the current Phase 2HA.

So instead the kids made her birthday cards and then walked over in the evening to deliver it to her.

Hope she likes it.

Love her so, so much!

New Corporate Phone

I tend to use my phones for very long.

So to have recently changed my corporate phone was quite a significant milestone.

I am now using the Samsung A5.

Which is quite outdated in itself. Haha.

Sweet.

Random Homecooked Food Pix

The wifey is truly turning into a masterchef.

So adventurous, yet so delicious.

DHS 65th Anniversary Virtual Run III

Again still pushing myself to continue running more, every few days trying to clock more KMs.

Me The Fatty Bom Bom

Look at how fat I am.

It seems like no matter how hard I exercise and eat healthily now, I cannot slim down.

Or at least I cannot get rid of my triple chins.

Sad.

Plaza Singapura Ghost Town

 A sad sight.

We were in the midst of going back to Phase 2HA (Heightened Alert), and nobody could dine in, takeaways only, 100% WFH.

The wifey needed to fix her laptop (which eventually couldn't be fixed) and that was the only place we could have that checked.

Hardly a soul in the shopping center even though the shops are open.

A sad sight.

Thankfully things are slightly better now with the 2 pax dining-in rule.

Hopefully things get better from here.
