Shanghai F1 Grand Prix 2015

What a fantastic event!
Won by Lewis Hamilton, with Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettal behind.
Just two days ago we even had a private signing session with Romain Grosjean now driving for Lotus! What a nice guy!

Held in Shanghai this year, what a lovely event it was!
They even shipped Michelle Chong, Chua En Lai, Desmond Tan, Jeanette Aw and Dick Lee. Even DPM Teo Chee Hean made a cameo!
China Art Museum Shanghai

Another tiring but eventful day. I have heard of the vibrant Shanghai art scene but today was amazing! The 中华艺术宫 is as majestic as the art pieces inside.
The scale of which is something I have never seen before. So many beautiful paintings and art pieces in a single location.
I had to be chased out around the 5pm closing time and was barely halfway through the entire collection in the arena!
I have to go back again soon. My lousy photos do not do justice to the art pieces.
上海東方明珠
Another day, another museum. This is the one I have actually been looking for, detailing the history of Shanghai, the 上海城市歷史歷史發展陳列館 (Shanghai History Museum). And for that, I got to see 上海東方明珠 too! Ok, I really need to rest my legs now...

Great win, and one step closer to Champions League football. And I actually caught the match in Shanghai.
1) The Brilliance Of Herrera And Blind
I get the feeling the LVG has finally realized how much Herrera brings to the team. Blind has been the key unstated player this season for me. Both played so very well today that both are my joint MOTM.
2) Third Game As A Strong Unit
We are finally seeing some continuity and semblance of LVG's philosophy. The trio of Carrick-Herrera-Mata is provig very effective. Fellaini, while not brilliant in this match has been a lynchpin in our three-game streak. Supporting Rooney up front, he really brings something positively different to the team.
3) Brilliant Rooney Goal
Rooney looks back to his best. His goal, our second of the game, was just pure class. I wished he'd produce more of these moments though. Sometimes the games seem to drift him by with him doing ok but not brilliant. He needs to further justify his paycheck and captaincy.
4) The Return Of Mata
Seriously I thought Mata would be sold this summer. Who would've thought he would become so crucial in our UCL qualifying run-in? Hopefully he continues this vein of form. Really a classic case of what a run of games can do for a player.
5) Tough Run Continues
It's not over. We still have games against Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal to play so it really won't be easy. First up is Man City next week. Hopefully we get some points. Even a draw seems fine to me.

Two Weeks In Shanghai

It's been two weeks here.
I work so hard when I'm here. Normally ending my work between 7-8pm at least.
There's so much to be done and so much potential here.
I get lonely but the staff have been really very nice to me.
Today was the first time I walked down 南京路，上海滩 and 新天地. Just like a tourist, only after two weeks.
Really missing home.

I miss them so, so much.
And each time I see their latest pictures or see them on video call, they look and behave just a little different again and again.
It makes me wonder how much of their growing up years I'm missing out.
:'(
Times like these I feel so lonely in a foreign land.
Almost Missed My Flight Home
Life is interesting.
After queuing as usual to check in, I am told that I had no visa to leave the country. This means I could not leave.
Like WTF?!
I had to pay a fine because I am now an overstayer. Per day fine is Rmb500. I had overstayed for 12 days.
So I had to find Rmb6K. My overseas ATM cards, one didn't work as it was blocked, another had a maximum withdrawal limit of Rmb2K.
Like WTF?!
Thankfully one of my staff told me to use the credit card cash withdrawal at te Foreign Exchange store. I used to wonder who would ever use these overcharged services.
So I went in to customs like giving myself in to the police. They brought me to a waiting area where I had to wait about half an hour.
Then when it was my turn, I had the overstaying charge read out to me, I agreed, signed papers, paid my fine.
Only then was I a free man.
Funny how life is.
I'm thankful that I made it through rather than give up and take the train back to this foreign city.
Just glad I made it out.
