Went with my two good primary school pals, Jinglong and Wenda.
We all turn 40 this year.
4 days, 3 nights, 2 rounds of golfing, one helluva good time.
Started the trip off with quite possibly the best beef pho in all of Ho Chi Minh City.
Then it was time for golfing!
Each round of golf included 3 cans of beer per 9 holes.
The first course was Long Thanh Golf Course where I hit a 107.
We went around for a really long walk around town that night.
The second course was Harmonie Golf Park where I hit my best ever, 93. In spite of a blistering right hand.
What a milestone and achievement that is.

National Gallery 2019
Brought the kids to the National Gallery last week.
Really world class.
I love all the arty farty stuff in there.
Think the kids loved it too.

Old School Snacks
I used to have all these snacks when I was a little boy.
How many of these can you recognize?
Boy were they unhealthy.

Pokemon GO Safari Zone: Sentosa!
OMG!
Safari Zone has finally come to Singapore!
And out of three registrations, I managed to snag one of them!
I'm going to Safari Zone Sentosa!!!
Whoot!
Read all about it here.

Gout
Who would have thought I'd get a gout attack. Again?
Anyway it has probably been all that rich seafood, red meat (steak) and worst of all, beer, that I've been having. The main trigger was my tight new work shoes which cramped my left foot and caused the pent up gout to act up rather seriously.
See how swollen my feet were.
Anyway thankfully I am well again after a week of rest (still had to go to work but in jeans), and new custom made work shoes.
Will need to reduce my intake of all the above foods and start exercising more regularly.
Gym membership anyone?

Everything's Not Awesome
Everything's not awesome
Everything's not cool
I am so depressed
Everything's not awesome
Whoa, I think I finally get Radiohead
Bro, you should check out Elliot Smith
What's the point? There's no hope
Awesomeness was a pipedream
Aye, my spirits be at the bottom of the sea
Love's not real, I just wanna eat carbs
Pass the ice cream
I am not a thing you can just use
To fill emotional voids with
Stop, everyone, okay, just listen
Everything's not awesome
But that doesn't mean that it's hopeless and bleak
Everything's not awesome
But in my heart, I believe (I believe)
We can make things better if we stick together
(If we stick together)
Side by side, you and I, we will build it together
(Yeah, we'll be together)
Build it together (Together forever)
All together now
This song's gonna get stuck inside your
This song's gonna get stuck inside your
This song's gonna get stuck inside your
This song's gonna get stuck inside your
Heart
Everything's not awesome
Things can't be awesome all of the time
It's not realistic expectation
But that doesn't mean we shouldn't try
To make everything awesome
In a less likely, unrealistic kind of way
We should maybe aim for not bad
'Cause not bad, well that would be real great
Everything is better when we stick together
(We stick together)
Side by side, you and I, we will sing it together
(Always together)
Party forever (Together)

The Tough Year That 2019 Is So Far
It is mid March 2019.
The year has been really tough so far.
Maybe the toughest combination and culmination of problems I've had in my life? I dunno.
So what are the issues? Well, the big three if I'm to be honest.
Health problems have crept in.
Relationship problems have crept in.
Financial problems have crept in.
Short of elaborating on any one of these points, it is fair enough to say that they are all serious enough to have given me a few extra strands of white hairs on my head, in my nose and my beard.
Life isn't as easy as it used to be, but funnily enough, I'm still as optimistic as ever, trying to react to all these setbacks as positively as I can, trying to see the bright side and silver lining in each problem that has stumbled on this life journey of mine this particular year. Still trying to be my happy-go-lucky self that, according to my parents, have disappeared. I miss that happy-go-lucky guy. That said, would I want things any other way? I'm not sure, maybe, maybe not. There is so much that I have done, that I do, or that I will do, that I have no regrets over. So maybe this is a test for me from a higher order, given how good a life I've already had.
I am inspired by Manchester United's current manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who's inspired the team this year, from the doldrums to overcoming so much odds AND achieving all this in a very positive and free-flowing mindset and play. We can only beat whichever team that's in front of us, so whether big team or small fry, we need to face up to the challenge with a must-win attitude. And with this attitude, we have found ourselves 5th in the EPL with only 4 points separating us and 3rd place, in the Quarterfinals of the FA Cup against Wolverhampton, in the Quarterfinals of the Champions League against Barcelona. Not so bad for United considering how bleak things were in the games just before Mourinho's sacking.
So I say to myself lately, if these little pockets of inspiration can do so much, with so little, then I can do so too. In fact, if I were to view the cup half full, I would say that I still have so much, so much, to be really thankful for. My parents, my kids, my job, my home, my hobbies, my mind, just so many things.
And I'm sure that there will be more tests to come, even more intense, major and difficult to handle. But through all this, let there be learning and experience to make my life all the more eventful, interesting, and fulfilling. May I continue to prosper, laugh and enjoy the rest of my life. 2019 is the year I turn 40 years old, and how apt that having come this far, I stand at so many crossroads.
I will do my best to face this all with this exact same mindset and courage.
Tomorrow will be a better day.
Jiayouz to myself!!! And to a better 2019 ahead!!!

Fatherhood Reflections LVIII - Regular Sunday Evening Routine
This is my regular Sunday night.
We would head over to my MIL's place around 6pm, and we'd all have dinner together where MIL will cook. She is one of the best cooks I know and part of the draw of making that long drive up north (in spite of my reluctance) is her ultra delicious cooking.
Then I just hang around watching TV or playing with my handphone while the wifey catches up with her family and the kids play with their cousins.
Then fruits will be served around 8.30pm.
Finally we'd leave around 9pm, as it is quite a drive back and the kids need to sleep early for school the next morning.

All About McGriddles
Not sure why they are so popular, even though I quite like it.
Simply a Sausage McMuffin between two sweet pancake patties.
Seeing too many of the pictures of McGriddles posted online.
So had to do my part.

Market Street Teochew Kway Teow Mee
This is one of my favourite morning breakfast staples now.
Located at the Interim Market Street Food Centre, this stall serves up an ultra delicious mee pok.
I'm eating it at least once a week for breakfast now.

New Belt And Shoes
Bought myself a new pair of shoes!
Bought myself a new belt!
Hopefully they bring me better luck for the year ahead.
Already my shoes have already brought me a bruise on my left foot because it was too tight.

DC Super Heroes Cafe
So we were here celebrating my daughter's birthday.
It is the first time I've been here.
Located at the 1st floor of MBS.
As usual, it had all the Justice League stuff. Superman, Batman, Joker, Aquaman, Wonder Woman and all that.
Thing is, aside from the novelty of the DS Comics characters in fused in the whole setting of the restaurant, the food and all, just about everything else sucked big time. The prices were super expensive. The food was a particularly big let down. Heck, you'd think spending so much on the food was bad enough, then it comes out cold (my steak) and some of it was inedible (daughter's fried rice).
Thoroughly disappointing, luckily made up by the novelty of all the super heroes shebang.
Definitely never coming back again.
Wish I had more pictures to show, but it was such a disappointment that I stopped bothering with the photos.

The Lego Movie Part Two
Very enjoyable movie with some very catchy songs!
The kids really loved it and I was glad we made the mad rush to Kallang Leisure Square on Friday evening, skipped dinner, just to catch one of the remaining screenings of this movie.
The songs were super catchy too! Yet using some really simple lyrics! Already have the album saved in my Spotify!
Very recommended!
After that we had Burger King for dinner hehe.

Receding Hairline
This is rather depressing.
As I celebrate my 40th birthday this year, I find a lot of things in me fading.
The hairline is probably one of the obvious ones.
Super sad.
:'(
Seems like I am cutting my hair shorter and shorter.

New Running Route
First time I'm running this route. Almost 10km.
This is from Paya Lebar Square to Siglap Centre.
Took me 90mins to run/walk the entire route, with Siglap Hill being particularly tough to climb.

3838 Eating Place Kway Chap
This is my all time favourite weekend food.
It is the new name for the old coffee shop by the side of Siglap Centre.
Throw in a dash of yong tau foo!

Market Street Interim Food Centre Fried Bee Hoon
This is one of my favourite morning foods.
The food at the Market Street Interim Food Centre boasts A LOT of good food. I just don't blog about it enough. Maybe I should show more pictures as and when I eat more and more.
Plus one of the cheapest in the city too!

Manchester United 3 Southampton 2
Wow.
What a game.
Southampton really pushes us hard. Fair play to them they played a very good game, both their goals were worldies.
But wow.
Our youth really stepped up. Pereira and McTominay did really well.
Lukaku also, in all fairness, I’ve given him a lot of stick lately, but the two goals he scored were sublime.
Hopefully we can keep this run going.
Just announce OGS as permanent manager now!!!
GGMU!!!
