Denmark & Sweden 2019 Day 8 - Helsingborg

Today was planned to be a very eventful day where we explore Helsingborg thoroughly.

We started off revisiting the old city square and the Karnen (again).

Then we walked to the Fredriksdal Open Air Museum, which to be honest, was a bit of a bore. The kids enjoyed the farm bit though.

Then it was off to the Tropikariet, an indoor zoo sanctuary. It was more interesting than what the outside of the building would suggest. This was probably the highlight of the day's tour. It was really quite amazing how many animals and various exhibits they could squeeze within the building premises. There was even an enormous aquarium in the basement.

We then had lunch at the Mcdonalds right beside.

From there we walked back to the old city square and toured the old town, which was really cool.

This was followed by a walk down to the harbour from which one could see across the channel towards Helsingor. Felt a bit like the distance from my home balcony to Batam, except far more beautiful scenary and weather.

In the evening we strolled back and found the Helsingborg History Museum. This was super interesting for me.

Finally dinner again in a quaint little restaurant in the old town.

This was a very memorable night because the wifey and I sneaked out of the hotel room while the kids were asleep so we could have a few pints at the pubs downstairs!!!

Denmark & Sweden 2019 Day 7 - Helsingborg

Today was a happy day.

I was gonna work till 3pm and then finally could meet the family and carry on with my holiday.

I had packed the day with meetings, so the day seriously blew by in a flash.

The wifey and kids had checked out of the hotel and walked over to have a looksee of the office. It as nice to have them see what our HQ was like.

So, finally it was time to leave. I said my goodbyes and I ran off to see the wifey and kids, took them around the office really quickly, and then went back to our hotel to collect our luggage, and finally hop in a taxi to the ferry terminal in Helsingor.

So Helsingor in Denmark, is just a channel away from Helsingborg in Sweden.

All it took was a 20min cruise ride which was super comfortable.

I had booked a room at the Elite Hotel Marina Plaza, which was very close to the ferry terminal and train station. This meant we didn't need to take a taxi at all for the tour within this city.

The hotel was also very near all the main attractions.

Helsingborg being a very old city (history dating back to more than a thousand years), had a lot of historic attractions near our hotel.

The main one being the Karnen, remnants of an old fort in the main city.

We managed walk the old city square as well, with its beautiful blend of new shops housed in old shophouses from centuries ago, all in the cold winds of this coastal city.

Just splendid.

Then we had a cosy dinner in a nice tiny restaurant there.

What a beautiful evening.

Denmark & Sweden 2019 Day 6 - Copenhagen

Another day of being very busy at work.

It was tough, but very fulfilling.

It was the day of the bootcamp.

I took the chance to take some pictures of the artwork in and around the office building.

Meanwhile, the wifey and kids went to Tivoli Gardens in Central Copenhagen.

In the evening, we had a Teamlead dinner.

Denmark & Sweden 2019 Day 5 - Copenhagen

I remember this was obviously a Monday, and I had to go into work.

I've been to Copenhagen for work many times already so I was very familiar with walking to work and getting to the office.

My favourite part was breakfast. I almost always have my cereal/muesli breakfast with yoghurt when I'm there. Helps me shit so well.

So I spent most of my day VERY, VERY busy at the office.

Meanwhile, the wifey and kids went for a city tour using the Copenhagen Card.

In the evening, a colleague hosted us for dinner at his house.

It was such a pleasant experience in that his whole family which comprised of his wife, two daughters, one of their boyfriends, and his son all joined us.

Even the food they made for us was delicious.

And they had the biggest dogs!!!

The kids fell in love with a smaller dog called Bomle. How cute.
