Arsenal 1 Manchester United 3

Wow.

Beating Arsenal in their own patch in the FA Cup fourth round.

This is OGS' 8th win in a row.

There is almost NO WAY he cannot be our next permanent manager anymore.

I really love this guy.

He's almost SAF in disguise!

Hoping For A More Huat 2019

Chinese New Year is coming and I really hope my 2019 will be much better than my 2018!!!

Burger King Vietnam

Found this super funny while eating Burger King at the airport in Ho Chi Minh.

#deliciousousous

Second Jog Of 2019

I find it pretty demoralizing to not be able to fully complete even 7km of full running since my marathon.

It is a lot of walk and jog, especially at the turn of my run.

Anyway, hopefully my stamina improves in the coming runs.

Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam 2019

First business trip of the year.

It was busy, but useful.

Let's hope we get good business from here in the coming year.

Tottenham Hotspurs 0 Manchester United 1

I forgot to blog about this match.

It was billed as the biggest game of OGS' young managerial career at United and his first true test.

And boy did he come out with flying colours.

Marcus Rashford scored the only goal of the game from a perfect long pass from Paul Pogba.

David de Gea made 11 saves in the game.

It was literally end to end stuff with chances on both sides.

Towards the end, as with the theme for most of OGS' games thus far, we tired and Spurs pressed at us relentlessly.

Enter DDG. He was in beast mode. Truly amazing.

Onwards and upwards, with the Brighton win, although we are still in sixth place, we've cut our gap of points to just 3 points into the UCL places.

By way of points earned, Man United currently top the league if counting only the points earned since he joined. Wow.

I honestly think he can win us the league.

GGMU!!!

Manchester United 2 Brighton 1

I thought we would actually win much easier.

Instead we either tired or lost concentration in the second half and it became a nervy affair towards the end.

That said, a win is a win.

This is OGS' 7th win on the trot and a new record.

He keeps setting record after record with each new win.

I really can see him as our permanent manager next season. This guy certainly gets United.

Long may his winning streak continue.

GGMU!!!

Fatherhood Reflections LVII - New TV

Finally, one of the few things I have a say over the wifey in our home.

A brand new 65' TV!

So happy that we got this LG TV retailing for $3,500, for only $2,000.

Really good deal so far!

Soy Eu Tua Chendol

Chendol belongs to Singapore!

This is the famous Peranakan Chendol at Soy Eu Tua.

Thick with Gula Melaka, it is super sweet. Fantastic and delicious!

Midweek Futsal

I can feel my body weakening.

My knees are not as strong as they used to be.

I'm slower than I used to be.

Yet I want to keep this going until I really physically can not.

Towards a healthy lifestyle in 2019!

Phil Jones

Some things never change.

Yet he can be such a monster for us, as he's shown in the past before under SAF.

I really hope he comes good, with OGS at the helm this could be his second coming.

Never change, Phil Jones, never change.

Magic 8 Ball Prediction For 2019

I admit I was a bit bummed out that the first 2019 zodiac forecast I read predicted a rather lousy year for me. One filled with sickness, unluckiness, loss of wealth etc, even a potential car accident (so specific!). Although generally I try not to believe in these things, I was on the lookout for some alternative sources since it really can't be all that bad.

In fact I actually blogged about it while covering my 2019 resolutions.

Last week I found another one that instead gave the Year of the Pig a much more positive forecast for me. It was lucky all round, except that I MIGHT strike a mega windfall and if so, I have to be wary of potential lawsuits if I flaunted it (again so specific!)

Anyway I always happened to be in Isetan the other day and chanced upon a Magic 8 ball in the games section.

So naturally, I asked "Will this be a bad year for me?"

Boon Tong Kee 2019

the wifey and I decided to try the famous Boon Tong Kee at East Coast Road.

It's been such a long time since I've been there.

All we ordered were half a chicken, two bowls of rice, a salted fish bean sprouts and two lime juices.

So satisfying.

Fatherhood Reflections LVI - Football Dad

That's right.

Finally my son is enrolled in a good football school.

We sent him for trial class at the FCB Escola, Barcelona's famed football schooling school, which has one of it's biggest academies here.

The setups and trainings were so much more structured and organized than I've seen. Sure it costs a bomb, but if the son and I see good value in this, then it is worth it.

He was so happy despite his early trepidation about coming. He got comfortable playing with the other kids, and once they started their drills and exercises, he was already lapping everything up. Even scored a goal during one of the exercises for good measure to end his first class on a sweet note.

Of course I don't expect him to grow up to become a professional footballer, but I think he has a chance to love football as much as I have.

Bedok Food Corner 2019

Brought the kids there for dinner during midweek and we were lucky to catch the Hokkien Mee and the Ye Lai Xiang desert stall open!

The kids haven't eaten this in a long time so they really enjoyed it.

I used to eat here quite often because we played weekend football at ITE East.

The Hokkien Mee auntie still has that black face after all these years!

Manchester United 2 Reading 0

Sure, this is only the third round of the FA Cup, against poor opposition, but still, the performance was poor by many standards.

Our starting midfield trio of Fred, Pereira and McTominay should never start together again. I still like McTominay and Pereira but as a trio this was as bad a midfield combo as can be.

That said this is OGS’ fifth win in a row.

Let’s hope we beat Spurs next weekend!

GGMU!!!

Future Card Buddyfight

Got introduced to this card game by my son.

It's a simpler version of Magic:The Gathering, another card game which I used to be really crazy about.

It is still fun and I am a little glad that my son has picked this up.

Hopefully it won't affect his studies though. I remember myself being quite distracted by MTG specifically during sec 4 and my JC years.

Fantasy Premier League 18/19

Funny I've almost never blogged about this, yet I've been playing this on various platforms since my university days.

In fact I have data with FPL since the 09/10 season!

Every new season we set up the Saxo APAC Fantasy League and last season I actually finished second! Probably my highest finish ever.

This year, I'm second from the bottom! Sad!

Here's my current team as well as my historical statistics!

Pokemon Go Addiction VII

3 separate accounts, still going very strong into 2019.

Level 38, 38, 32.

This is my strongest account and mons.

Clash Of Clans Addiction VII

3 accounts still. 2 Townhall 11s, 1 Townhall 12.

Still going very strong!

Here's my strongest TH12 account and Builder Base in the top two screengrabs.

Here's my weakest TH11 no defence account, and Builder Base in the bottom two.

First Meal Of 2019

Ramen!

It was at Tonkatsu Ramen at Parkway Parade.

Not bad, but quite expensive, even with the 'kids eat free' promotion.

All in $60 for a family lunch.

Official Golf Handicap 2019

Here's my official golf handicap logged with SGA CHS.

Hopefully I will improve on this by end of the year.

Resolutions 2019

And so, a new year has begun. Just like that.

Unlike 2018, I don't look at 2019 with so much excitement. I am a little scared to be honest. My Fengshui for the year is supposedly bad. Bad health. Bad accidents. Bad luck. It does not help that there are tons headwinds ahead, in the world financial markets, effects of global warming, political situations around the world, and even at home where things can get tense. Hopefully none of the bad forecasts turn true and hopefully things will turn out fine and well for me and all my loved ones.

I will try to steer myself to have as good a year as any other.

With that, it is the standard format of firstly, my 2018 resolutions review.

Secondly, my 2019 resolutions.

Again, I will try to adhere to my management learned technique of setting myself SMART goals. Specific, Measurable, Ambitious, Realistic, Time-factored goals.

Here they are in no specific order.

1) Earn >SGD10K On My Saxo Investment Account
This was achieved and even exceeded in 2018, and so, without pressuring myself to take too much risks (which I felt I did), I will try to do the same and with more safety nets in place. This requires me to learn to be more disciplined as I cannot afford to suffer any berserker rages (wanna know how bad it used to be? Read here) anymore.

2) Exercise At Least 3 Times A Week
This is one of my failed rollover resolutions from last year. At least I have managed a rather stable twice per week. Increasing to thrice is still tough but definitely not impossible. I have also signed up for the Sundown half marathon in June and hopefully I'll do the Standard Chartered half marathon again in December. This is really for my own health and fitness.

3) Achieve Passive Income Of At Least $500/mth
Time to up the ante! 2018 being the first year I've hit a solid amount in passive income, I want to stretch that by even more in 2019. This higher target is definitely not impossible, and with a bit of luck, astute investment decisions and hopeful cash injections, I should be able to attain this goal and maybe even surpass it.

4) Have A Thoroughly Enjoyable And Memorable 40th Birthday Year
It is my 40th birthday in 2019 and I have decided to throw caution to the wind and have as much fun as I possibly can. I have several birthday trips lined up with good friends. I want to be happy with my own life. Happier than I am now. And I want to do it with the people and friends I love. Life hasn't been all that easy for me and I don't want to be a sap about the way things have turned out to be. Let 2019 be a year of love, celebration and happiness. Probably the hardest resolution to measure, but let's see what my verdict is come year end.

5) Eat Less Sugar, Drink Less Alcohol
Time to work towards a healthier lifestyle and healthier diet! This means less sweet drinks. This means less carbohydrate intake. This means less beer. And to put things in a tangible format, here's what I aim to do.
- Not more than one sweet can drink at work per day
- Not more than one after-work drinking session per week
- No more adding one full bowl of rice during meals

Hopefully I can score a perfect 5/5 come year end!!!

HUAT AH!!!
