the weekend came and went like the wind. haiz. so damn fast. sure wish it stayed the weekend for alot longer. generally spent the weekend with the girlfriend. and a lesson learnt is that when CNY's round the corner, CNY goodies are the perfect marketing tool to get into the girlfriend's family's good books. pistachios! ka-ching! 5 brownie points earned! cashews! ka-ching! another 5 brownies scored! bak kuah! ka-ching! 100 brownie points again! haha. hope they like it.
anyway i'm still on leave this lazy monday. spent the days lazing around the house. tomorrow work starts and for the next 6 months will not have anymore block leave liaoz. oh hark, how fast the block leave doth runneth thru. think thats all i gotta blog for now...

Back-to-Office Thursday
went back to office in the afternoon. thankfully not much rubbish left behind. only problem was our dear ms karen kwei told me that she received a call from a complain customer about some singapore power trolleybag thingy and wanted to know who he spoke to so he could complain about that male sc. so she ran the list of names and when she came across mine the customer said it must be me! zhun bo?! dun recall myself giving the wrong info about sucha simple thing. anyway a further check with her and i found out the customer called in in Nov! wtf! i havent started taking calls in november lor! wah lao so yuan wang can kenna me. anyway patrick says its okie lah wun kenna any daiji cuz i only begun work in dec. wah lao but still, so dumb right to have a random name familiarized lidat. knn.
apart from that the day went pretty normal. enjoy nuahing at home and reading and monitoring stocks and shares. evening went dinner with bro at lagoon. believe it or not he's actually seriously considering signing up for - wait for this - a brazilian jujitsu tournement in singapore. i wuz like, wow. okie. can i come watch? haha.
brazilian jujitsu. geez how many people have even heard of jujitsu? in brazil? fascinating.

balaclava wednesday
spent the morning and afternoon cleaning up the house abit. apparently the bird that left its doo-doo in my house also left a few ruffled feathers flying about.
highlight of the day was lunch with chun! met her after she finished work at dunno-where then drove to parkway to eat at marine parade hawker centre. the life of an accountant during peak is so busy that any time available must be treasured siah. anwyay lunch was simple but nice. very nice.
dinner time was with colleagues at marche suntec! not very chea[ but still quite nice to eat. love eating with steph and june cuz i always get to finish up whatever food they can't finish. muahahaha... i had a garlic weiner and pizza. steph's softshell crabs were pretty good too. then afterthat we all went to balaclava. i like that place. very 'chill'. and the best part is that it looks like hte perfect hangout for ang mohs and spgs, but its not. there were hardly any ang mohs or spgs in sight and everyone seemed local. according to someone, everyone there is from the banking industry, dunno if thats true but i sure didn't feel outta place to say the least. live music was good too. and my god, if anyone of you ever go down you gotta try the infamous 1 pint of hoegardeen that comes in a humongous glass that for people with smaller hands need em both just to pick it up to drink from.
interestingly in the midst of hanging out i got a call from beth and leon asking me to go cheong. block suppers must be getting fucking boring for you guys init? "if you go then we go." win liao lor trying to put the ball in my court ah? well i admittedly did give it some consideration for a coupla seconds but then aiyah since i was so comfy and wuz lazy to drag my butt outta that lovely place...
another time perhaps?
the low point was that jeff confessed to us that he found a job at dbs as a pfc. made me so jealous. i mean not that i detest this job i'm in. in fact i kinda like it what with all the lively interaction with customers and the people around me are all swell and i seem to be impressing alot of people(god knows how easy it is to impress cerain people). but its just that i dun see much prospect in this job and i really don't figure myself climbing the service ladder. its just too taxing in the long run. steph just told me to 'dong' there for another few months till my contract clears before i move on...which does seem to be sound advice. at least tryta clock 1/2 year of experience. and furthermore according to jeff everyone seems impressed if you've grauduated from a stan chart contact centre. so there. clock the experience first then. fuck shit. i supposed in the back of my head when i go back to work will be the idea of quitting liaoz. you can blame jeff for that.
actually took the 36 bus back. felt crappy over the still have to 'dong' so longin stand chart. shite man i dun want to go into the details of jeff's dbs offer but comparatively i know i am capable of doing well in a similar environment as he can thus i don't see why he should be the only one sharing the spoils of this good offer. bloody shite. not that i got anything against jeff, he's 1 helluva guy to hang around with and a good brudder too. dun say dun have we actually got draggeed through outserve together. gotta keep tabs on his work the next coupla months...haha
wonder what's eric the fly doing.

Joe Tuesday
woke up tuesday morning feeling really restless. drove to cold storage to buy some groceries that would make up some part of my meals for the rest of the week. then it occured to me that joe knows how to play squash and should be free at 12 noon. so msged him and next thing i knew i was winding my way around hougang(believe it or not its actually quite well developed) to pick him up and then back to my place for a squash matchup.
naturally i was schooled. no matter how hard i played there's no beating joe when he's in squash mode even though he keeps saying he hasn't played for eons and shit still he's good enough to whip me 4 straight sets though thankfully i didn't lose at kosong. but it didn't matter, i had fun and worked up a real sweat. then we went to swim. real nice to have the pool to ourselves in the sweltering heat. too bad the sauna and steambath were under renovation.
as joe said in his blog, this mynah bird came crashing into my house and shocked the bejesus outta both of us but flying straight into the glass door panel. thankfully nothing was broken. then it hopped around and joe and i went to try to shoo it out when it pooped on my living room floor(the cheek!) and then in fright flew straight into the glass door panel yet again even though this time it was open big big. that bird seriously wasn't too bright and this time it really looked concussed. thankfully it didn't die(it'll sucha bad omen to have a bird fly into my house and die). so i picked it up and put him/her/it on the ledge where it proceeded to take a dump while recuperating. after awhile noticing the paparazzi(me and my trusty handphone) that was upon him, he managed to take flight. and we never saw it again.
afterthat we drove out to hwi kiat and ronnie's shop in bishan. i've been to that area before to eat at the kopitiam. the shop is situated at a pretty secluded corner at the central market area. according to joe the layout of the shop has improved alot since the last time he's been there. didn't seem like a busy day though we got to witness a little girl scolding hwi kiat for scooping ice-cream slowly. haha. what the hey, we even got treated to a lunchbox meal from that dazzling duo. the chicken cutlet was quite tasty, fried by none other than hwi kiat himself and the soya bean drink was good. couldn't hang around long enough for his shop to close, it was only 6+ but maybe we'll go out again thursday.
finally winded around hougang(its really quite impressive, really) and dropped joe off at his place before i got myself lost and somehow ended up in upper paya lebar. but still with abit of quick-thinking managed to maneuver my way back home in less than an hour. haha. it was a fun day spent at least.

Casual Monday
wow.
it seriously has been a long time since i could appreciate a monday without work. talk about nuahing a whole day away man. i can't believe i've still got the rest of the week to do so.
woke up pretty early at 9am, darn bio clock refused to let me sleep further. today was the same. but thats another thing. went to cut my hair at mode. prices are up $12 a cut now with cny approaching. was disappointed i didn't have my hair cut by my fav indian stylist. instead i got one of the two uptight directors of mode. my mom says their cut is more worthwhile(apparently it costs $150 to book them for a cut but only $12 when they're free) but still i rather have my fav indian stylist cuz she knows the cuts that i like, rounded cut above the ear, shaved sideburns, low slope and blah. the moment this director said "shave sideburns not nice" i xianz liaoz. whatever anyway my cut according to someone looks extremely TUT. thanks ah, no chance to attract nubile young things liao.
afterthat went to eat my fav wanton mee with otah at the coffeeshop just outside mode. the uncle damn power siah, got himself in a motorcycle accident liaoz still working hard to sell wanton mee. damn power.
then proceeded to singapore pools to place a cheesy $5 bet each on both home teams of the dunnowhat inaugurral fas/fam champions cup and shit. incidentally both won, mind you. home united won the cup champions cup while preak won the league champions cup. sibeh boliao. today newspaper reports that barely anyone went to watch the matches. so sad. kallang fever die liao.
i also gotta say parkway parade or anywhere else in singapore only has 2 kinds of people about on a sunny monday afternoon - old folks and students. period. no one else. if you're shopping on a weekday afternoon and you don't belong in either of hte categories, better enjoy it while it lasts cuz the crowds ain't getting any better than that, where every single shop assistant has all the time in teh world for you and you can walk a perfect straight line from mph to cold storage without diverting your path for oncoming human traffic. damn shiok.
finally was off to library. borrowed some books about investing and small-cap stocks trading. boliao wan lah. gotta concentrate on finishing dan brown's da vinci code first.
nuah at home till evening it was time to fetch parents and sis to the airport. they going bangkok till fri. was pretty good bonding session. we ate at ajisen ramen. there's actually one at the airport. how convenient. and i get 10% off with my discount card somemore. think i would enjoy shopping in bangkok what with the ample opportunities to buy cheap fake stuff and bargain like a market auntie.
then sent bro back to camp.
chun came over to do some work. then sent her home.
and that was my casual monday.

Start of Block Leave
whoo! today is the start of my block leave. one whole week! geez and i dunno why i even bother to wake up so early but guess the bio clock just won't allow me any rest.
so anyway hopefully you readers will see more entries and more interesting write-ups cuz i figure the last coupla posts weren't the most interesting stuff you've read...
i will be spending my leave studying for my M8 exam(because someone keeps bugging me to), continue reading dan brown's da vinci code, play stocks and shares and hopefully earn some money at that, bet in singapore pools and hopefully win some money at that, go to the library at least 3 times, and maybe, just maybe, arrange my american photos (which i haven't really done since i came back) snd of course tidy up my desk/room. all this while i'll be looking after the whole house as well since daddy mummy and sis are on holiday in bangkok! whoo. gotta go there some time.
okie will leave things at that in the mean time and constantly try to update my blog about anything interesting that might be going on. currently my legs and back ache terribly from our jog to bbq pit 1 yesterday. haiz. must be getting old...

Go Lions Go!
just watched the tiger cup match between singapore and indonesia. final score singapore 3 indonesia 1. but for a last minute goal by indonesia, the whole game really made me feel so proud of the singaporean team. after so long since the malaysian cup days and hte 1998 tiger cup days, there is something for me and most singaporeans to cheer about the singapore soccer scene. the match was damn well played and kudos to raddy avramovic for his brilliant tactics and attacking indonesia on the counter. aide iskandar, s. subramani and baihakki khaizan also damn power at defence. really worth supporting. from this performance andthe rest of the tiger cup games, you can really feel our young lions wearing their hearts on their sleeves. hopefully they will win the tiger cup next week. at least then we seriously got something to cheer about finally. anyway next week i think i'll want to go down to the national stadium come rain or shine to support the young lions.
anyone interested to join me?

Sick Dog
good god. today i'm as sick as a homeless puppy. i don't even know why i'm at work today. as if a really bad sore throat and a runny nose isn't bad enuff, i woke up with a sore eye. and still i dragged myself to office. dunnno why thruout the bus journey i couldn't even open my right eye and it was continually tearing. so i just slept thru the bus journey. but wheni alighted everything was okie liao. though the eye is still painful and sore but can open. anyawy thought of taking the day off but figured since i travelled all the way here liao then might as well put in the hours lah. else abit silly to travel all the way home just after reaching...just hope i don't die in office...and that i don't start a viral epidemic.
i'm sure things will only get better from here.
anyway i just wanna state that i dunno if its a good thing or a bad thing but working on saturdays one can really rack up the calls if you're on the platinum hotline as well which has recently just been included in my split(thats the different lines i currently take which is 3 since last week). the reason for this is that there is a bunch of brazilians - yes, its true - who make prank calls. thats exactly like the aquahs who call into the cos office when i was in army. they just call in and ask what's our name and then ask if we can speak portuguese. haha. how interesting. and on a saturday it seems like they're even more free than ever to make these prank calls! as of this journal input i've taken 19 cals so far and only - get this - 5. yes f-i-v-e are legit. that means only 5 calls are real queries. haha. way to go at racking up call numbers eh? so anyway i've taken to going to this portuguese website to learn a little portuguese. haha bom dia!

No Calls!
wah...sitting in office now. really no calls coming to me. damn shiok siah and lobo too. haha.
work is fine.
so its the new year already.
went back to hall on monday to watch scrabble. everything lose. not that i can blame anyone. i think beth did a fine job training those who bothered to be trained. been encouraging her to quit the team so i know i wasn't too productive helping them out. but still kudos to them for picking themselves up and winning two halls the next day. honestly i had lower expectations, so i did feel somewhat happy to hear that piece of news. meanwhile beth dun worry lah, ming nian hui geng hao wan. the team will improve, you'll have new blood the following year and therefore a stronger team. there's no lower to go to say the least. there is hope in that eddie guy who looks like your brother, behaves abit like akur eh? hehe.
while was there met the old guards like sylvia jiayi siyong and a coupla others who used to play for their halls. they also recognised joe and i. sure feels good to be recognised as a good player. they were also here to support their halls. some have been here as alumni even while i was a player for the hall. hands also itched to be part of the team again but haiz abit too late to regret. but those were indeed good memories. perhaps this year maybe i can try to play my part and go back to hall more often to inject more enthusiasm in the players. at least then i wouldnt feel so useless when i watch the team during competition. oh btw hall 7 won the gold for hte second consec year. how surprising.
was also in school the previous monday to watch the darts team. they won all their matches the day i was there. then the following day they lost in the semi finals, being upset by hall 10. must be terrible to go in as favourites and get knocked out in the semis. that was how i felt during last year's scrabble semis. thought we had come too far to lose in the semis. i think that a really lousy round in the competition to be knocked out of. no medal somemore. so i really feel for the team.
anyway as a whole this year our hall's rec performance is crap man. haiz. how sad the state of things now. but nothing i can do but lament nad think of the good days. i'm just glad mt 4 years there were good years.
meanwhile life is good. work is tolerable but not enjoyable but its still a job to do. don't really mind it. company is good. nice colleagues and nice environment. only gripe is a lousy ugly customer to spoil my day. my friend says this job is damn unhealthy cuz anytime you kenna one nasty customer you're in for a jialat jialat time. as julian likes to put it. just take down our pants and let customer screw until he happy. but stil must be professional. haha. the good thing is that there's alot of support for you especially when you kenna a jialat jialat customer. and its quite nice to see the whole world rally around you and siding you and cursing that the customer will later trip and fall over a small little rock.
how professional.
besides that i'm finally killing off my backlog since the new year and i'm finding that i can go home earlier and earlier than i even intend to so thats a good thing.
k lah enuff. traffic is picking up. time to pick up more calls...
